The sooner we throw our entire weight behind China and Russia, the better for the simple survival of ANY sort of global order. This American adventurism must now be stopped.
The concept of some American "dream" or civilisational benchmark for others to aspire to is long dead.
They have simply turned into a mercenary nation state, nothing more than a pirate nation.
It is shocking how they continue to trample on the principles of peaceable and patient co-existence once espoused by their founding fathers, though it can be argued that the writing was on the wall ever since Dwight Eisenhower's parting address over half a century ago.
I don't think there is anything left to salvage now from that nation. They have turned to obey whatever philosophy they have been indoctrinated with by certain lobbyists. They have become simple cowards, striking against the weak from the shadows and under the cover of darkness. They refused to challenge an organised enemy in Russia and they would likely avoid conflict with China also, which is why those two nations require the support of any other nation that wishes to survive as an independent entity.

Two implications, especially if China doesn’t comment too loudly; Trump MAY have given the green light to not interfere if China goes for a similarly swift reunification with Taiwan.
Second is, are we about to see, in the coming years, a migrant crisis out of Venezuela, if the next regime doesn’t fix living standards. They might not make it into the country with Trump in office, but starting heading north under the next president.
BTW, this is like taking out Noreiga but with no resistance; so is this going to be called Operation Just Cause II?

Indeed Nuclear weapons are the only capabilities major powers respect, but also, the speed at which this happened indicates it was a coordinated surrender; handing over Maduro and not fighting back. Otherwise those chinooks wouldn’t be able to go in the way they did. Without even Apache cover.
We will probably see a Venezuelan military general rule in an emergency transitional form and hand over to Machado soon enough.
Maduro is probably going to be Perp-walked in chains into a Miami court.

Unlikely, Maduro isn't the type that would give up power if it means his country would be spared destruction more like cling till the end type.

Doubtful. Sold out and stood down more likely. People are generally okay with taking a pay off, except those who have adopted some genuine morality based (be it real or illusional) posture.

But, America has historically bought people off. I remembered reading a book about the US had pick up trucks full of cash for Iraqs Republican Gurad hierarchy, who just melted away mostly or whose troops were sent to go sit it out away from useful, so, yeah. This is form.
