France says military operation behind Maduro's capture goes against international law​

The United States’ military operation which resulted in the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro went against the principles of international law, said French foreign minister Jean-Noël Barrot on Saturday.

Barrot wrote on X:

The military operation that led to the capture of Nicolás Maduro violates the principle of not resorting to force, that underpins international law.

France reiterates that no lasting political solution can be imposed from the outside and that only sovereign people themselves can decide their future.

How is it possible to just snatch Maduro and his spouse while they were sleeping and with no casualties ? I have no doubt Mr Maduro was betrayed from within his regime and his few loyalists were the target of the bombings.

There are probably enough poor (and many non-white) Venezuelans that think their standard of living are about to sharply decline, so even if they don’t fight, they might maintain chaos and prevent another regime from taking over. A kind of Libya situation.

This is why an economic day after plan, not just a political one, is so important.

This is an act of war between the US and Venezuela......

This is basically an intercontinental kidnapping using the armed force of the United States. I am pretty sure if any one of the Chinook and Gunship (some say it's Viper, some said it's Apache) were shot down, those pilots and crew won't get the Geneva Convention Protection, and they would be tried under Venezuelan law as common criminals.......

This is 100% illegal under international law. I don't think there are any leeway to jsutify it any other way
