The epic war-lordism & goonish behavior that is on display by United States clears a lot of things about near future.

There should be no shred of doubt that United States will occupy Greenland too.

It looks like the US have devised a new war strategy based on prior surgical operations such as Operation Neptune Spear in Pakistan (2011) and Operation Kayla Mueller in Syria (2019). The US went straight for the head of the snake and removed it. Venezuelan military have taken a hit but Venezuelan institutions are still in place to restore order. Now it will be easier for the US to influence and/or coerce Venezuela at large to respect or align with American interests. I doubt that Venezuela will descend to civil war under these circumstances.

As I said, you don't do this to force an election.

We had already invaded Venezuela, just one strike wouldn't do anything in negotiation unless you are saying Trump is ready tocommit us into this quamire because what it does is only going to heighten the security for venezuela and for the regime to have a tighter grip on the country (Which they already did) it wouldn't do anything else unless there are subsequent operation.

The CIA had a source within the Venezuelan government that provided the U.S. spy agency with information on President Nicolás Maduro’s movements and location, leading to the U.S. Special Operations raid that captured the Venezuelan leader and his wife, said people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

No other details are known about the source, or their current whereabouts. The identities of foreign assets working covertly for U.S. intelligence are among the CIA’s most closely guarded secrets.

The spy agency did not play a direct role in the raid to capture Maduro, which was carried out by elite Army Delta Force commandos, a person familiar with the matter said.

The CIA “had a small team clandestinely on the ground starting in August that was able to provide extraordinary insight into Maduro’s pattern of life that made grabbing him seamless,” the source familiar said. They and others spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive details of the operation

The CIA had surged resources to the region in recent months, including intelligence-gathering assets and, more recently, elite paramilitary units who often work with their U.S. military counterparts.

If there was a backdoor deal, it wouldn't be the US JSOC doing this; it would be Maduro's people doing this. You don't send your own troop in if you already secured a backdoor deal. That makes no sense.

Also, this doesn't change the equation. I don't see how, with the government structure intact venezuela would be willing to partner with the US all of a sudden. As I said, you need the opposition to step up, and if they do it now, they are going to get cut down.

You don't force an election with a decapitation strike, you are doing it to try to force a regime change, and it's not going to end with that strike, the shock and awe in Iraq followed with 3rd Infantry Division, 82 Airborne division, 101 Airborne Division and 1st Marine division jump the fence from Kuwait to take over the country, we don't see any of that in Venezuela here.

You are talking like you are not aware who is your president and that he lives off the spectacles, you give him to much credit and conventional reasoning.

The Global South hasn't achieved much. There was talk about introducing a new currency to weaken the dollar. It hasn't materialised yet.
