Venezuela - US Conflict: News, Updates

According to Stephen Miller, brute force is the Trump administration’s preferred way to conduct itself on the world stage. “We live in a world in which you can talk all you want about international niceties and everything else, but we live in a world, in the real world, Jake, that is governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power,” Miller told Jake Tapper of CNN.

So what else is NEW? US & her allies did use overwhelming force to "fix" things post 9/11. How did that work out for them in the long run?

Honestly this was much more impressive than the Bin Laden raid.
Not even close. Pakistan considered a "friendly" partner against war on terror they likely knew US operation was taking place. Venezuela on the other hand was considered a "hostile country." Which leads me to this question... why no stealth helicopters used?

I've looked at multiple videos and even in the dark you can tell those are not stealthy blackhawks.

30 to 50 million barrels a year or month or day? Current output is 800,000 a day and declining fast from its peak output of 3 million barrels a day due to years of sanctions and neglect.
Depending on the extent of the neglect, it could take years before production levels reach previous peak numbers. The engineers will be busy assessing the situation.

CIA hacked Maduro's Huawei cell phone. And no the Chinese didn't know about US Ops to capture Maduro.

I'm not saying they knew he was the target. I'm saying they were likely watching the buildup closely for weeks and could tip him off as to what assets he was up against and what they likely could do. It's going to be hard not to notice Chinooks. Anybody here mention them over the last few months? All that was talked about was F-35s. I'm the one that brought up the USS Iwo Jima probably had tilt rotors not F35 aircraft.

Venezuela’s president said Wednesday that his country has deployed 5,000 Russian-made Igla-S anti-aircraft missiles across its territory, as US President Donald Trump considers possible military action inside Venezuela.

“Any military force in the world knows the power of the Igla-S, and Venezuela has no less than 5,000,” Nicolas Maduro said during a televised address to military personnel, calling the weapons vital to defending the nation’s sovereignty.

I think this is an overcomplication from the Chinese point of view.

As I said, Trump is doing this for China and OPEC, it's basically a giant banner saying "Don't Mess With Me" in my backyard, but at the same time, China and Russia knows there are pretty much nothing they can do about this as China probably not really interested in sticking their neck out for Maduro, and Russia is simply too bogged down for it, you can clearly see from Iran, Syria and Africa, Russia is over stretched. They KNEW there was nothing they could do; they don't need Trump to remind them that.

I was talking to a friend about this and looking at Trump's endgame. What is Trump trying to achieve here? And we also discussed two issue arise from this operation, both from a military standpoint and a political standpoint.

1.) Why choose to do it now when the opposition is not in Venezuela
2.) Why not just kill Maduro outright? Why arrest him and parade him?

If you are pushing for a regime change, you would want to do it in a way you have the opposition ready to take over when you start your move so to avoid the power vacuum, on the other hand, you don't generally arrest someone like that, you either kill him or exile him, why put all these effort to try to legitimize this??

We had over 2 hours of discussion, so I am not going to repeat what we had talked about, but the short version is, Trump doesn't want regime change. Otherwise, he would have installed Machado and her party instead of trying to work with Rodriguez; in fact, the way he is doing it is like tempting Machado to do a protest and challenge the government, and then having Rodriguez suppress her.

So, for China, what does it mean? It's one of the two things

1.) China can shift its focus elsewhere, or
2. China starts to protect its strategic interests.

Which way China chooses would be up to their leadership, and how people perceive the US, it's the political equivalent of "stir up the pot"; now we are simply looking at what's coming out.

This is about forcing Venezuela to continue to use the petrodollar. That's the main goal.

Trump is not going for a full regime change because in order to do that and install someone weak like Machado, he would basically have to commit boots on the ground and that means large American casualties.

Trump is a showman. He likes to act tough but he is very adverse to losing American lives. Therefore, he loves doing assassinations, kidnappings or these one off agreed upon attacks but he is very adverse to being caught in a long drawn out war.

However, his main goal here is to make sure that Venezuela continues to use the petrodollar. That is an achievable goal that can be done using limited military force and I believe he has achieved that.

What is this preschool babysitter yapping about? She looks terrified.
Venezuela is finished. the country was doing great, then came socialism with Chavez. Maduro gave his country the final kick. Best friends Russia, China, Cuba and other are not helping.
There is a wise rule since dinosaurs: never give own country to an idiot or a psycho.

Democracy is poison for Latinos.
How do you get elected? Promise fat welfare.

It shall adopt a one-party system to achieve long-term performance.

Precisely why US sets up communist Cuba as a bad example.

1959, four months after leading a successful revolution in Cuba, Fidel Castro began an 11-day visit to the United States.

11-day visit! Castro wanted to be a US ally, rejected and had to go Communist.

Now, the rest of America is afraid to adopt one-party communist system, because a terrible precedent has been set.

Latino democracy is prone to foreign interference, say goodbye to strong governance.
