In 1847, a regular post office was established in Karachi. Originally it was on a simple building or a rented place. In 1852, Nohoi, the organization of the Sindh Postal System and Karachi was made the central city of the Sindh postal circle.
The network of land and sea postal was expanded. 1860 The first permanent GPO supervised building was built in Karachi. The building was two-storey, with external stairs and colonial style. The new building was approved in 1887.
Built on IndoSaracenic style of architecture in 1892 This building was declared fully functional General Post Office and Karachi's. The building was considered an important postal center of British India. The delivery of telegraph, money orders, and letters abroad began in 1900.
The GPO gained international importance due to the Karachi port and the same GPO of Karachi was counted among the large post offices of the minor at that time.
After the establishment of Pakistan in 1947, Karachi became the capital and GPO was declared the main office of Pakistan Postal Service and the mail of millions of refugees, money Became the center of order and official letters.
