Save Karachi

The ongoing cold snap in Karachi has started to affect the daily routines of Karachiites, particularly at night. With temperatures dropping, most people prefer staying indoors, and many neighbourhoods, typically buzzing with activity, are quieter than usual. Public transport is also vanishing from the roads early, further contributing to the city’s nighttime silence.

HYDERABAD: PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Wednesday alleged, without naming anyone, that “some powers” wanted to rob Sindh of its rights and transfer its resources to Islamabad on the pretext of claims that the provincial government had performed poorly.

He made this statement while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the first phase of Tharparkar Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology in Tharparkar.

“Efforts are made, a campaign is run to assassinate the character of not just Tharparkar but your entire province as part of a conspiracy and for a particular objective. Some forces want to rob your province of its rights and resources and have them transferred back to Islamabad on the pretext that the Sindh government has not done anything,” he alleged.

He added, “I believe that the answer to this false narrative is Tharparkar. You can see how Tharparkar was before 2008, before the 18th Amendment, and how it is in 2026. Yes, there are problems, but the Tharparkar of 2026 is before you all [to see].”

Bilawal further stated that the people of Thar had “always supported the PPP in every election”, terming this trend an expression their love for the party and late prime ministers, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.

The PPP, he continued, reciprocated this fondness by “always striving to develop Tharparkar”.

Well then, he and PMLN should start delivering and should try to do better than PMLN in Punjab, not to say PMLN is doing awesome. But still better performance than Sindh. so i am trying to compare two incompetent corrupts. if it make sense.

Karachi contributes 25% of Pakistan’s GDP
Why not make it a state

Delhi makes up less than 5% of Indian GDP
Still it was made a separate state in 1990s as its population crossed over 10 million

wouldn't marathi ppl be mad if you start talking about turning Mumbai into a separate entity
same thing here
I think a very decentralized city-state within the province of Sindh is a better idea, like NYC in NYS

21 Burns Road eateries sealed in Karachi for occupying footpaths

KARACHI: As many as 21 eateries on the famous Burns Road Food Street have been sealed by authorities for occupying footpaths and walkways.

District South Deputy Commissioner Javed Nabi Khoso said that the restaurants and other food shops had been sealed because they had placed their furniture on the walkways.

He said that the sealed outlets would be unsealed after payment of fines and undertaking by the restaurant owners to fully comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Mr Nabi said that the commissioner had directed all deputy commissioners to take strict action against the “soft encroachments” that hindered the vehicular and pedestrian movement in any part of the city.

He said that most of the shops and eateries were sealed in Arambagh sub-division where Burns Road Food Street was also located.

The DC said that all shopkeepers would have to pay fines and submit written assurances of compliance with the SOPs.

He said that some of the restaurants and shops sealed two days ago would be allowed to re-open their outlets as they had already paid fines and submitted required affidavits.

The anti-encroachment operation also continued in other parts of the city.

Korangi DC Masood Bhutto said that two restaurants were sealed in in Model Colony and five others in Korangi and other parts of the district.

It may be noted that the city authorities have launched a massive operation against encroachments on footpaths and walkways across the city, sealing several markets, including the largest motorcycles market at Akbar Road, Saddar.

پہلے آتی تھی حال دل پہ ہنسی
اب کسی بات پر نہیں آتی

Either Karachi be liberated and made a separate metropolitan state like Singapore.

Or Pakistan restructured in 15 provinces, power delegated to cities

?? Or Whole Pak will eventually become a Big Ghetto dotted by selected islands of elite housing societies.

Marathi people are majority in Mumbai and Mahrashtra. Sindhis are not the majority in Sindh, let alone Karachi...

But f@aujeets keep handing PPP/Sindhis 100% mandate from Sindh with fraudulent census and stolen elections....because PPP waderas are compliant little minions doing their bidding.

Only restaurants being sealed are the ones not paying bhatta to f@ujeet sponsored PPP thugs

Karachi fires:

A timeline of major blazes and unanswered questions

Fires frequently erupt in buildings across Pakistan due to a mix of poor infrastructure, weak enforcement of safety regulations, and widespread negligence.

January 19, 2026

The Gul Plaza inferno that erupted on Saturday night, killing at least 21 people and injuring several others, is one of the deadliest fires Karachi has witnessed in recent years.

It is also the latest reminder of a grim and familiar pattern in a metropolis where fires routinely destroy homes, businesses and livelihoods.

Across Pakistan, fires frequently break out in residential, commercial and industrial buildings due to a toxic mix of crumbling infrastructure, weak enforcement of safety regulations and widespread negligence.

Many structures lack basic fire exits, alarms and emergency response protocols, while faulty wiring and overloaded power systems sharply increase the risk of electrical short circuits.

City planners and engineers estimate that around 70 per cent of Karachi’s residential, commercial and industrial buildings do not have an adequate fire safety system.
