oohh black tip reef. where was this?
At Toronto aquarium (the one near CN tower, ripleys or something), I had good fortune of having shark expert friend with me....and he was explaining all the different aggression levels. I think reef sharks (both black and white tip) are fairly docile to humans because of nature of environment etc.....
(far larger cousin) white tip oceanic is pretty aggressive in comparison...the ocean molded it different way to a reef over millions of years.....but then again it has grown to its size too.
Their upstream lineages (order: carcharhiniformes) date to Jurassic and cretaceous periods (great whites order: lamniformes.... for example are somewhat "younger" in that their lineage starts ~ late cretaceous). These are a heck of a lot of years in the end...many 100s of millions.... australopithecus w.r.t us, appeared maybe 4 million years ago.
P.S Reef (15kg) : oceanic : great white is about magnitude increase of mass each time.
This helped clear some stuff in my head again
