US currently has 98 aircraft readied for attack on Iran all arriving after 16th Jan 2026

18 x KC-135R refueling tankers in Al Udeid , Qatar
36 x F15E Strike Eagles in Jordan

This is a refueling tanker "heavy" movement, you don't move 8% of your total refueling tankers for a exercise or training

This indicates a air campaign focused attack, possibly limited strikes but very hard and heavy

If within the next 7-10 days we see more cargo aircraft, it means the war is on and they are bringing in the weapons

If F35 and F22 5th generation fighters arrive it means the war has arrived

The focus for Iran has to be where these aerial assets, UAVs and transports are sitting, and what Iran's response should be to a country that "hosts" such a large military force that is obviously being built up to attack Iran. Rather than the usual finger waving that Iran does, it has to act on its words. Host these forces, and we will attack them and you are responsible for that, then do it. Iran needs to try and rebuild its deterrence framework in the area, as its approach has reduced its deterrence. What happened to the "big bad Iran we don't want to f--- around with?"

Iran should however use the moment to focus on how the USA can do these operations in the middle east, and on the support infrastructure that the USA uses in the middle east. That is not just the bases, but the countries themselves. Iran needs force these countries to convert their "yes, you can use our military bases to attack Iran", to "no, you cannot use our military bases as Iran will attack us and we can't handle that pressure with them, our people and we need to learn to live with them once you leave". Iran needs to focus on reducing the USA freedom of movement in the Middle East to be able to attack Iran imho.

Iran needs to think through this more strategically than they have done so, so far.

Iran needs to wear down the middle eastern princes and monarchs who have gotten a free ride on providing physical support, but not suffer the consequences for it.

If Israel does not actively take part in the attack, then Iran should not attack Israel at all. That is a day #2 issue(even though they are orchestrating things). The focus should be on the "enablers", to force the enablers not be the enablers anymore.

Additionally, looking at the low number of fighter jet movements suggests that the Americans feel they can take care of the Iranian IADS and Airforce with one aircraft carrier alone? The Houthi / USN demanded more aircraft carriers if I recall correctly. The fleet is too small to attack unless the USA is going to use the build up as a distraction for a another B2 strike, but this time at where the leadership is hiding and then try and call ti quits ?
