US Political News and Trump’s China visit

So no more UNSC or veto power?
China has many ways to resolve differences of opinion. Our history provides us with methods to solve problems. I will explain one of them to you: discussing common interests, where the benefits of cooperation outweigh the benefits of disagreement.

For example, the reconciliation between Saudi Arabia and Iran is a major event that promotes the development of the Islamic world.

What you've stated is different from the thread's topic. Without the U.S., the WHO is practically functionless; the U.S. provided the logistics and lift capabilities. What other nation will come close? Then you have the pharmaceutical industry, research and development, heavily funded by the West, and the capacity to manufacture and deliver, and the COVID era was on full display for the world to see.

The U.S. capacity to bomb and kill is different from its capacity to deliver when it counts the most.
Wait until we leave the UN.

Exactly. Everybody wants USA to be the leader when it comes to paying bills, but then everybody hates USA for being the leader.

The time has come for the world - including China - to drop this charade. Either put up the money or shut up and follow.
I tend to think you and I agree on more than we disagree.

My friend, we all believe that the United States withdrawing from the World Health Organization is inappropriate and a disaster for countries in need of health support.

As a part of the world, the United States has abandoned its responsibilities to the world. However, this portion of responsibility should not be forcibly assigned to China. Asking a law-abiding country to pay the price for a country that breaks the law is unreasonable.

China will continue to expand its aid, but not within the framework of the World Health Organization; China will not bear the cost of America's actions. China has already fulfilled its responsibilities under the World Health Organization’s regulations, and it is unreasonable to blame a country that follows the rules.
Well then, either step up and fill the void or continue to gripe about the US withdrawal. When it comes to disaster relief, we are the undisputed leader when it comes to providing assistance. Even to those countries who are not friendly toward us.

Only US aircraft carriers can produce nearly unlimited quantities of fresh water on demand and on location for disaster relief. Let that sink in for a moment.

Yup!

And we have done that.

Just annoys me to no end the world complains about the US yet stands there with their hands out looking for aid, or, in the case of China, enjoys the benefits without really doing a whole lot.

I will be curious to see just how quickly the Chinese dispatch a DRT into Iran the next time they experience a devastating earthquake or send a team into The Philippines when there is a tsunami. I could go on and on but I'm concerned I may need to thread ban myself for awhile.

Yes, but saying that is quite unpopular in this forum, just giving you a heads up Sir. Tread carefully, I kid you not.

Pakistan earthquake, Banda Aceh tsunami, Famine in Africa, the list goes on and on. But let us turn all that around and blame all of suffering and misery on USA, until it comes to any opportunity to drain the poor US taxpayers. :D

Well, to remain on topic, US politics is sort of coming out of this appalling shadow.

all that was part of the soft power layer of an aggressive , militaristic and interventionist US foreign policy. Now we are in era where the soft layer is being jettisoned (foolishly) and only hard power used.

Just because a country does a few good things does not mean it is an angel in this world and cannot be criticized. Look at the Mideast and the sheer suffering and destruction America and its proxies have inflicted on the hapless people for the past 100 years.

No country is an angel or a devil. Every country plays by the exact same rules of international geopolitics. Some do it better than others, that is all.

Adding to @VCheng's post above, the Middle East is equally responsible for the foolish decisions it's made and, through its own ill-advised actions, invited outside actors into the sandbox.

See, the difference between the ME and how the European Union is taking action with the U.S., you don't fight a giant head-on carelessly.
