JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

it might have been the intention, however, every nut, bolt and gasket is imported from China.

Nut, bolt and gasket are for sure 100% built in Kamra along with about 50% of airframe. However, Yes! a whole lot of other important stuff is imported from China.

I know as a fact in our other strategic orgs (PAEC, KRL) etc we have total dedicated sections (Machine shops) With kind of machines that can produce small parts with absolute precision, you have to feed the data and program it. Machines does the rest. I won't be surprised if PAC don't have those.. Just watched a video of PAC, some shots clearly show they have atleast some level of manufacturing capacity.

Saudi Arabia : 12-40 Units [Negotiations $2.0 Billion , USD], Jan2026
Bangladesh : 48 Units [Negotiations] , Jan 2026
Indonesia : ??? Units [Negotiations] , Jan 2026

I expected Nigeria to upgrade their order to 36-40 craft , their 3 plane count seem very low for a Country rich with Oil

So technically we have lot of interest but deals need to be "closed" with formal "Contract"
Myanmar ordered 7 and 7 were delivered.
Nigeria ordered 3 and 3 were delivered.

Nigeria ordered 24 M346 FGA from Italy for $1.4 billion instead of JF-17 Thunders and their delivery is in progress.

Nigeria ordered 24 M346 FGA from Italy for $1.2 billion instead of JF-17 Thunders and their delivery is in progress.

Seems like Nigeria realised they didn't really need fast jet capability, rather coin focused aircraft. Given the level of corruption in their decision making, that doesn't surprise me.

Because they don’t do this?

Sorry but I’m not sure why Pakistan would get its arse kicked for buying off the shelf airframes and integrating local tech with them…?
So, basically you are preaching something that you aren't really sure of.

It's easy to license assembly fighters
It's easier to made to order a fighter to your specific requirements to a massive aerospace power like jf17
Pakistan funded china built it at continues to upgrade it for you

Sometimes I feel india should have done the same paid France or Russia to build Indian specific fighter
what's the difference in what you said vs buying off the shelf? word gimmicks.

With the JF17 Pakistan paid china money to help design a fighter to Pakistan's specific paremters and capability within their development and unit cost needs

Without having to build a decade plus full eco system savings time and money

The result Pakistan today has 180 plus fighters in service in different improving blocks and assembly plants and maintenance hubs functioning

India went the hard way built a eco system of their capability and a similar fighter but only block 1 and only 40 fighters if that at twice the cost

The two adversaries are going opposite ends again
Pakistan is inducting by 2030 a fifth generation fighter in 2/3 years time will gain combat tactics and new technology to fight tommrow war now

India will try to develop and induct a fifth generation fighter leveraging technology and military eco system it developed from Tejas programme but it will.take decade longer and there times the cost ..

IE pak J35 v Indian Amca

You are wrong.
Pakistan did not pay China to design a fighter for us according to our set of parameters, it does not work like that. If you do not know the history of how JF17 project started, then you need to make an effort and learn. It was a China-US joint venture to improve an existing fighter (aka super 7). That project got stalled due to US sanctions on China after Tiananmen square protests. After many years, China invited Pakistan ( or Pakistan offered) to join the development, and the project took a new turn from improving the old jet to designing a brand new from scratch. Both China an dPakistan we 50-50 partners in the program.

ALL block 1 have been/final phase of conversion to block 2 standard.

MRF has been lucky with the fact that they have been able to procure surplus mirages 3/5 from all around the globe, from France to Lebanon to Australia, Libya. Most of the ac procured as spares where brought back to life.
