Chengdu J-20 5th Generation Aircraft News & Discussions

LOL.
The ridiculous Indian media always comes up with bizarre ideas. Don't they know that the J-20 is not for sale?

This is so blurry and small, it is not even visible if it is actually a J-20A. And this guy is an idiot anyway! He always posts anything as a fact even if proof is often - like here - more than sparse!

A comparison of the nose details of the J-20 and J-20A.
Can you spot the differences?

The Radome is much more like a beak and the IRST device is 360 degree all around and blue, the lights on the Front gear is different as well as the Design of the DSI

Is it me or does the HUD frame in the A look thinner giving the pilot a better HUD view?

First tell us which one of this is j20a and j20? The above j20a?

Come on! What about doing at least a bit research on your own ... you are not really a newbie so the main difference between a J-20 and the A should be familiar to you?!

I am very bad at telling differences on visual things. I was also on mobile so couldnt searched but when on pc i would have searched first. Plus i have a bad memory, i may forget the difference in future but @Michael teaching like thick neck i would remember that.

Nobody can remember all these details. We usually only remember the most crucial and obvious differences.
For example:
1. J-20A and J-20. The most obvious difference is the "thick neck."
2. J-10C and J-10CE. The most obvious difference is that the J-10C has an extra antenna on its back.
...
For these kinds of details, remembering the most obvious one will allow you to easily distinguish between them. Further details depend on your interest.

Rare Sighting of J-20A and 20 Side by Side The appearing together fundamentally reflects a "dual-track" strategy in both air combat doctrine and industrial capacity.

The term "dual variants" refers to the "full-spec" version equipped with the domestic WS-15 engine and the interim variant still using the WS-10. The WS-15 variant delivers greater thrust and enhanced maneuverability, making it suitable for close-range dogfighting and rapid interception. In contrast, the WS-10 variant offers lower fuel consumption and longer range, enabling extended patrols over vast airspace.

This combination can be likened to a household owning both a sports car for sudden emergencies and an SUV for long-distance travel—ensuring both combat "burst capability" and day-to-day operational "economy."

Chengdu’s simultaneous mass production of both variants indicates that the Chinese Air Force has adopted an "integrated combat" mindset: deploying aircraft with different performance characteristics to cover a wider range of operational scenarios, while rapidly scaling up combat capability through large-scale production.

The frequent test flights of unpainted aircraft further suggest that the production line has entered a "dumpling-boiling" pace. It is estimated that the annual production of J-20As could exceed 100 units by 2026. In the future, they will form a high-low mix with the J-35, fundamentally reshaping the air combat landscape in the Asia-Pacific region.
