The concept of Akhand Bharat has found traction after a mural was inaugurated in Indian parliament with that map. That mural is to indicate a golden and powerful past, rather than future plans or intent. It is to create pride in the fact that India was spread wide and far and had immense wealth. Obviously, there are elements and people who assume this to be a statement of future intent. The powers that be are happy at this ambiguity as it fits their political agenda.
Those who fancy that India would attempt to integrate Pakistan back into it’s fold after Pakistan gets weak, lose sight of the fact that many others could have been already integrated, if military power was the only thing keeping Pakistan safe.
This includes Bangladesh as well as Nepal. Wouldn’t India have attacked these two and integrated them already? Do they have any military power to resist Indian invasion? In fact 1971 was the best time for India to remain in Bangladesh for many reasons and then occupy that territory. It is pure and simple an absurd idea that is used by fringe elements on both the sides for flaring of sentiments. Same is being done by many posters here.
Present day India has no imperialist ambitions. Those who disagree with this, might search and find statements on social media contradicting this observation. One can find anything and everything on social media to support any narrative that one wants to.
Majority Indians know and firmly believe that Pakistan and Bangladesh are water down the bridge.
Sour grapes ehh?
