but lets stay on topic or fatman will ban us

There is no greater danger than underestimating your opponent.

SU57 can be base for Indian 5th Gen. It can bring a lot to their table other than just a jet.

Rafale has its own importance.
Heavy : SU 30 MKI+ AMCA/ SU 57
Mid : Rafael to replace/supplement Mig 29 and Mirage .
Light : Tejas MK1A + MK2
Buy 2-3 more Rafale squadrons off the shelf, remaining 31 for Navy as well and close the chapter.

No point sabotaging LCA Mk2 and AMCA.

The Russians were offering "Made In India", so the idea might be to get their hands on whatever tech they can.

True, but ideas and reality are two different things. After 5 years and under immense difficulty Russia only has 1 Sqd of SU-57 in service. The same constraints will be on India, and on top of all that HAL will be involved. This will make the Tejas production line look a McDonalds drive through in terms of efficiency

We need hom grown engine for any meaningful development of AMCA..As of now only collaboration with Safran can give us this type of Engine.

From "done deal" to 56th round of "clearance"....
There is a whole process that goes before signing of large contracts, essentially a formality. Defence Secretary cleared it, then it will got to DAC and then finally to CCS. So yes, more or less done deal.

Not really, there have been many instances of deals being "approved" that never came to much.

2 extra Phalcon AEWs? That was a "done deal"

6 A330 MRTT? That was a "done deal"

3 Extra Scorpene subs was a "done deal"

It is just constant noise and BS that tries to make activity pass for actual progress as Indias fighter and sub fleets get older and older.

@Yasser76 It's all your fault.

You need to understand, some Indians have vedic technology and living in the 4th dimension of time, where all moments—past, present, and future—exist simultaneously within a fixed, four-dimensional spacetime structure.

Done deal here indicates likelyhood, a lot of approved projects never move forwards as they are deemed irrelevant. Phalcon was shelved for Netra project. A330 shelved for HAL-IAI Boeing 767 modified tankers, and Scorpenes might be shelved in favour of P76 and P77.

Some doesn't mean most.

Exactly, so worth waiting till something is signed as opposed to another round of meaningless approvals designed to show the public things are moving when they are actually not.

Right now I would say the deal has a 30% chance of happening. Till contract signature everything else is BS.

Pakistan government can "approve" a 200 aircraft F-35 buy in theory.

I think Su-57 is a superb fighter aircraft. There's far too much anti-Russian propaganda that portrays it as some souped up Su-35.

If India were to acquire it, it'll be a huge threat against Pakistan even if the PAF acquired J-35.

You are right as well as dead wrong.

First part is right. Anything can happen from here. Infact I would rate the chances at even lower than 30%.

Second part is dead wrong. Approving 200 x J35 = atleast 14-17 Billion USD. Read it again and you might laugh it off yourself. You know the reason too.
