So why are people like Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud welcoming him into their spaces and posing for laughing happy pics with his arm around Epstein? Besides aren't people not normally allowed to get that near MBS due to security concerns or even a breach of Royal protocol? I think you'd have to know him pretty damn well to have that happen.

Why did Epstein even get an audience with him if he doesn't even run a legitimate business that Salman would be interested in? Epstein wasn't a US Government employee...so that's not the reason.
Extremely busy so logging right off but will share some information I was told by very reliable individuals, one a current Saudi Arabian intelligence officer (distant relative).
I have been told that Epstein was an Mossad/CIA asset since the 1980's. Iran-Contra Affair basically. He was one of the middlemen and used to do deals with Adnan Khashoggi - one of the main figures involved back then.
Throughout this time until the middle 2010's he passed himself off as a "big shot" with connections in the power circles of the US. Apparently he befriended 1 or 2 Saudi Arabian princes that I will not mention here.
I also know that he visited KSA shortly before MBN was ousted and after the corruption purge in 2017. His aim was to get business deals and access to the power brokers but he was relatively quickly ousted as not whom he pretended to be. Hence no further information of notice emerged afterwards.
The overly focus on some relative nobodies (2-3 individuals in the UAE), 1 former information minister (Anas-Al Rasheed) in Kuwait that he took a photo with and the apparent photo with MBS (many have claimed it to be a fake or at least manipulated), as well as the Russia links, are done deliberately by the current US administration to silence Epstein's clear and obvious links with Mossad.
My understanding is that the Jamal Khashoggi assassination had Abu Dhabi/Mossad involvement. Someone gave wrong information to people working directly under MBS and this all occurred while the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul (apparently) was already bugged beforehand (very strange), during a time when KSA-Turkey relations were somewhat stained. This episode, no doubt, was used to try to extort MbS (failed) and to hamper the Saudi Arabian Vision 2030 (failed). Because Jamal Khashoggi had no real dirt on MbS, the wider House of Saud or the state nor was he a threat nor had KSA killed political dissidents abroad before or after his very strange killing. It was literally a perfect trap and nothing could have been gained by doing it, only the opposite.
To this day I don't ever recall Western media being this obsessed about the murder/killing of a journalist anywhere in the world. The entire "red carpet" in Hollywood was created, Netflix documentaries and what not. 24/7 air time in the US and West for weeks on end. It almost seemed like they had prior knowledge.
Compare it to the dozens of political assassinations abroad by Russia, China, Iran and numerous other nations. Not even 0.01% of the publicity this received. Not a coincidence. The most absurd thing? Epstein had visited Riyadh 2 days prior.
Not only that the 2.5-3 million files that have not been published yet, and the many redacted files that were published, expose Trump and numerous high-ranking US government officials (Republicans and Democrats) and the entire current power circles in the US as deeply involved with nefarious activities, to put it mildly. If those files are ever released it could threaten the US system as we know it. That is why they will not be released and if they will be released, they will be heavily redacted or altered, as some of the "official" files have already been.
The evidence of this? That no person of importance in the US has yet to be arrested let alone face any trial. Even though Epstein's human trafficking, prostitution rings, pedophilia etc. was well known for decades by those in the know. it is beyond crazy how much involvement there was across the board in the US. However all this will be brushed aside and somehow manipulated with nobody involved, among the "big shots", facing any criminal persecution because the entire system is rotten to the core and dominated by a certain ethnicity with a certain political ideology.
