France confirms India’s interest in Rafale F5, potential first export customer

The J-35AE will help neutralise a lot of the work that the Rafales ( + new AEW&C) combo will bring to the table, esp if China provides the PL-17 ( if it can be carrier internally!).

All the procurements the IAF is doing, will help the IAF "match" the PAF of today, but not tomorrow when the J-35AE comes on line.

100% this, they have a habit of planning for yesterdays war. This was exactly their thinking after 2019. F-16/AMRAAM shot down a MIG-21 so they planned to counter the F-16. Thinking PAF will sit still.

We then bitch slapped them again in 2025 and now they are planning on countering J-10C thinking PAF is sitting still.

In terms of money Indians doing very well, in terms of long term planning to create a future proof and integrated air combat force, they are a utter clown show...

My guess is Erieye is the last western AEW we will operate.

I still think there is value in the Globaleye for the PAF to learn about new techniques of warfare. The Swedes have always always been at the forefront of new war fighting concepts, it was the Swedes who first invented datalinks for use on fighter jets etc.

The problem the IAF has, is that everything is "foundational". They need the datalinks, and EW before they can effectively utilise Stealth based platforms.

Without their own datalinks, the AMCA(if it ever turns up) will not be as effective as the J-35AE with the Link-17 datalink integrated onto it.

For sure, but I am seriously intrigued in what the Chinese have in the KJ-700, even if some of these capabilities can be put into a KJ-500 "P" it will be a game changer.

Range of over 500km, ESSM, electro optics, stealth detection.

IAF could fly a kite in Delhi and we could find it and target. it....

Yup, but that boring foundational stuff does not win headline or votes.....

Many IAF bases still do not even have proper HAS.

you have been assembling planes for decades now.. and yet cannot manufacture any key componet

indian manufacturing is sub par.
Well, I don't disagree that HAL has not done a very good job and that is why the government is now involving private players in defense production.

However, it is inaccurate to say that India cannot manufacture any key component. For the Tejas, the AESA radar, the EW suite , the flight control computer, major weapons system and most high value alloys and composites are produced locally. India is certainly not where it should be, but it does have a lot more indigenous capability than Pakistan.

None of the above is true. Stop talking utter sh*t.

Lol how dare he say India has more expertise than Pakistan in data linking electronic warfare

Pakistan is way ahead in this forum. They have
??????? Err not sure tbh

The Indians could not exercise a strategy to sabotage and jam Pakistan planes radars and sams sites leaving them defenseless
They are incompetent

Err they did that exactly recently

That could never happen surely even if it did ...we shall deny it ...

Additionally France has always struggled to field a "system of systems" if you like.
this is somewhat incorrect.
France is part of NATo systems of systems and that is how NATO was designed for the cold war that countries made up gaps for each other.

NATO standards is what let everything connect. You should be thankful for Link-16 and then Link-17 adoption by PAF or rather that USAF turned PAF from its flying club beginnings into a systems of systems force the effects of which still bearing fruit today.

India had no such “inculcation” of ideas and doctrine in any uniform fashion barring a period post 65 where they sent droves to study and learn from abroad and put competent men in command.

Their issue isn’t having competent men, it’s that their competence is outweighed by the need to “dont make noise and make everyone look good”.

Pakistan suffers at various levels from this too but there were just enough competent men who waited to make an impact within this mentality.

Additionally, Pakistan being the security military elite state it is means it faces less hurdles with pushing military reform through having power and say because they’re the boss.

India due to its democratic and extremely strong civil service system meant the military is one of the various institutions with their own power struggles and therefore are always looking for stamps rather than getting things done.

They have made steps recently because of the BJP to remove the stamp culture(at the expense of other aspects of national cohesion) so it is very likely that empowerment comes down to the military as well.

Great deal

For France

They are milking the Indians,

The indians are completely cornered and option less and France has taken the opportunity to milk the Indian cow

The indians will be paying through their nose for decades
When Chinese milk Pakistan, we don't make noise - isn't?

All defence related Chinese is milking Pakistan for a decade now

If you I will start thinking your ways., than I must say it

I think PAF is unable to get over the Indian sam network.
J35 is DEAD focused thing, yes it can counter the air borne assets but so can our jf17s & J10s.
Indian geography gives IAF full advantage to maneuver inside its air space under extensive sam coverage but PAF is in claustrophobic situation.J35 can give it some breathing room by hunting down 400s & Baraks - India's strategic assets.

I have different opinion.

They are getting bolder by every conflict. No one in Pakistan was expecting brahmos/shadow assault in May stand off.
Now What's next? Hypersonic ballistic missile assault?
We had no answer to brahmos in May neither we can counter-match them in precision & ballistic missile fire power.

They hold the escalation ladder until now.In this context, i regard J35 a proactive step to introduce a completely new technology in battlefield.

Not only can you not match their depth in Sam cover

Their forthcoming offensive capability to hit anything and everything in Pakistan is also apparent
Their range of long range stand off weapons is increasing in variety and lethality IE hypersonics and bigger numbers of platforms to launch

Pakistan launched only ballistic missile strikes and drone strikes

No attempt to launch air strikes definitely not on the scale that India did

J35 will may give you platform.that you can risk going in deeper but the numbers are so few expected initially

Can you imagine a s400 or kusha taking them.out will Pakistan risk them
I think they won't enter anywhere near loc
