Trita Parsi said exactly this - take out the hardliners who are not playing ball and others will cut a deal to keep their government in power, just like Venezuela. I think that's the course they are going to adopt in regards to Iran.
This war if it comes (hope it doesn't come to that), will be the end of this [stupid, foolish] government.

Starting to watch this Greg Stoker video; he, given his background from deployment in Afghanistan, is better on tactical level than on higher level like Trita Parsi and Max Blumenthal are. But Greg is right starting this part of the video: The whole media dynamics changes as soon as American servicemen are killed, with potentially huge political costs for President Trump. Democrats are cynically wishing for a Trump failure and I believe Trump was advised to not mess with Iran and instead concentrate on US domestic issues as the Midterms are coming up later in the year.
I believe Iranians are smart enough to know Trump's weakest point; this conflict is not even 'sold' to the Americans unlike the 2003 Iraq war was.
