Afghanistan is not a small country. Throwing us into this 2 front situation is result of strategic blunders by Pakistan military from General Zia to till today. If you really want to fight a war then see how much readily available resources you have, pour billions and bring your military from every other front and get into war once and for all. But no, GHQ wants constant disturbance. With such war like situation, No one in country would even bother about overly due retirements, or elections or anything else at all. Even anyone questioning the policies would be called traitor.
I wonder why we are still FAILED in finding TTP leaders. We were failed finding OBL living under our own shadows. Its either incompetency OR its deliberately keeping things the way they are. GHQ stirs the pot and then watches reaction. If you really have resorted to kinetic actions then why keeping it to bare minimum? Why not use overwhelming force to convey a message (as you choose this strategy ) Its frustrating that GHQ wants to hang in between. Taliban will always get more confident with limited strikes. We had a chance to buy their people, start projects, we didn't do any effort whatsoever to have our influence grow on such an important front. We didn't even recognize the regime. IMO, we should have made an ally out of them, as we were the buffoons who sheltered them for years too against US. We facilitated talks, we treated their fighters. We lost a big way. We gifted india a strategic win without india firing a bullet. Now, whats the backup plan? limited stikes?? LOL! that's not working! If we have turned our former allies as enemy then we have to find replacement now and do the whole thing from scratch all over again. That prepare them, fund them to be Taliban replacement. You need to have a friendly govt in Kabul. Otherwise forever 2 front situation is dangerous.

Sources in Landi Kotal said that the Afghan side fired artillery shells at the border posts on Maro Sar and Shah Kot Sar in the Bazaar-Zakhakhel area.
They said that at least two mortar shells fell in open compounds near a residential area but no damage to property or casualties were reported.
The cross firing started around 6pm and continued until late night, with local residents taking refuge in safe places.
Afghan forces had launched sudden attacks at multiple points in Wragha Sar, Maro Sar and Shahkot Sar areas while unsuccessfully targeting Pakistani border posts on Tuesday as well. But, security forces had effectively responded to the cross-border attack.
Afghan authorities had initially claimed today they had launched a cross-border offensive, following which Pakistan said its forces launched a counter-attack.
During today’s clashes, it was also reported that border security forces at the Torkham border were placed on high alert. The border has been closed since October 12 last year following heightened tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, there were also reports of Afghan families that were to be repatriated were sent back to a holding centre in Landi Kotal from the zero point at the border as the security situation deteriorated.
The latest clashes along the border come less than a week after Pakistan targeted terrorist camps and hideouts overnight in the Nangarhar and Paktika provinces of Afghanistan.
While an official initially said that “more than 80” terrorists had been killed in the air strikes, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry later said during an address in the Senate that there were reports of over 100 terrorists being killed.
The information ministry said at the time that the strikes were carried out in response to a number of terrorist attacks inside Pakistan — such as the suicide bombing at an Islamabad Imambargah and a number of attacks in Bannu and Bajaur during the holy month of Ramazan.
“Pakistan has conclusive evidence that these acts of terrorism were perpetrated by khawarij at the behest of their Afghanistan-based leadership and handlers,” the ministry said, adding that in response, Pakistan carried out “intelligence-based selective targeting of seven terrorist camps and hideouts belonging to Pakistani Taliban [Fitna-al-Khawarij] and its affiliates, and [Islamic State-Khorasan] at the border region of Pakistan Afghan border with precision and accuracy”.
Fitna-al-Khawarij is the term the state uses to refer to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

Taliban don't have much reserves
If they use something, it's difficult for them to replace, they don't have resources or sellers
So at most afghans can keep it up for a day or two and then they will just burn through stock and seek ceasefire
Pakistan for it's part doesn't want a war as it understands it's futile, nor does it want to heavily escalate and punish Afghanistan too much, it understands.it could cause more problems
But we are stuck and forced into this because of Afghan behaviour

Out establishment will have to understand that strategy is not the name of managing a crisis on day-to-day basis. They try to control politics, economy, foreign policy, even sports with this atitude due to which our country has no direction whatsoever.

Plus to be very honest pti has slowly becoming a provincial party with all of it's key leadership is from kpk and people dont like that .
