And also the recently upgraded F-16s-- a good 70+ of them-- are now potent fighters against India as front or second tier fights, which they were not for the May 2025 conflict with India. The Upgrade request was denied by the Americans since 2021 until just now.

Pakistan keeps its f16 fleet because who would want to throw away a perfectly fine jet? Modernising an f16 is far cheaper than building a new j17 or purchasing a new platform. In large numbers.

Afghanis are stupid not to have worked this one out. The two superpowers USA and USSR were not local and used to the environment and terrain. We Pakistanis being a neighbour would've have years to plan out a potential attack on KABUL . Pakistani Military are also self aware of tactics they'd use etc

National leaders could be stupid. Very stupid. When the Afghan Foreign Minister Mr. Muttaqi went to New Delhi a few months ago and crowed about Afghanistan defeated so many Superpowers before and being a Grave Yard of the Empires, he was warning Pakistan to please his Indian hosts. Stupid Muttaqi should have known that Afghanistan had external help in at least two cases and even then, in the end, Afghanistan is a Graveyard of Afghans themselves.
These kind of Delusions of Grandeur lead the leaders to their death and to the destruction of their nations. We will find out tomorrow morning who in the Afghan Taliban leadership survived the the night.

You don't have to bloody occupy kabul. Have favourable terrain ingress upto 10 - 20 kms at different spots and treat it as border , anything come near it, shoot at it. Use that in psyops, destroy their over bloated egos and their claims over lands upto Attock. Then use that as bargaining chip at negotiating table to impose your will. I don't see any other way.

Okay, maybe it is a wording issue because people here use buffer zone for that and occupation makes it sound like something else.
