I'd say China needs to be pushed by someone, for the sake of their own good.

Whether Russian blackmail them or Iran blocks Hormuz, someone needs to push the Chinese to get off of their a**es and help the countries fighting their enemies. Its for their own good. At least if China helps Russia, Russia will be able to do something for Iran.

As it stands Russia is fighting about 67 countries and Iran is fighting at least 11, while China does nothing tangible for either.

Except you can argue that from the other side as well. Killing US soldiers can make the backlash against Trump even larger given this war is already not very popular with the public and is seen as completely unnecessary. Not to mention this would also give more ammo to his own base of MAGA supporters that voted for him on the assumption of not starting any more wars.

So Iran absolutely needs to kill as many US soldiers as possible, it would help them put pressure against Trump, not help him drum up more support for it.

There is a tremendous difference between the Planes used during the Vietnam war in 1955-1975 and the aircraft used in 2026. The survivability, stand-off, and capabilities have improved exponentially.

The Chinese have China and that's all they care about since day one from thousands of years.

China can destroy the financial system, most US banks abandoned their short positions, though three European banks are at risk of total collapse if China buys metals (and maybe oil).

The west wants a short war because their entire economy is running on fumes and could collapse if China decides to destroy it.

Iran holding out and driving oil prices to over 150 dollars per barrel would aid in the rush from dollars to gold and silver, destroying the financial system first in Europe and spreading elsewhere with perhaps the repo market and debt market. Derivatives are another possible ticking b*mb. This war can be blamed on taking down economies, if China with deep pockets goes long on commodities. Except China does not want to take down the Western economies and to have the blame be on trump for starting the war. China wants to make money with the West.

Why should China intervene in Iran? That will never happen. The Chinese only intervene if Vietnam or Korea. Iran itself should seek a way out of this endless war.

A lot of people are wondering if this war will affect China. So let me quickly explain.

To set the table lets assume the worst and that all the iranian and gulf arab oil infrastructure built over half a century costing over a trillion is destroyed and there is massive shortage of oil internationally and that oil supply will not be returning soon.

Currently:

1. Over 60% of Chinese vehicles are EVs (and growing) and China uses more clean energy than the rest of the world combined such as hydro, wind, solar etc. Chinese people mainly travel via electric scooter, electric trains, electric vehicles or now growing in number: electric driverless buses.

2. China is the world leader in nuclear technology and coal technology and has enough reserves to power china industries for generations.

3. China will increase purchases of oil (if required) from Russia, Kazahstan, Brazil etc and China has the money to pay for it if its worth the cost.

4. At present China has a few billion barrels of oil in strategic reserves and will be used if required to transition from one power source to another.

5. China has successfully operated and installed the thorium reactor to the energy grid and has more nuclear reactor stations in development than rest of the world combined.

So..yes if the oil supply in Iran/Gulf suddenly stopped China will be impacted, however China will not be nearly as impacted as less developed nations whom don't have access to mass clean energy, nuclear energy and coal/oil reserves. Western nations will also likely to be impacted more due to heavier reliance on petrol as well.
