USA, Israel and Gulf States cry to Europe to join war goals established yesterday:

France, Germany and the UK have said they are ready to defend their interests and those of their allies in the Gulf if necessary by taking “defensive action” against Iran, reports AFP.

The three countries’ leaders were “appalled by the indiscriminate and disproportionate missile attacks launched by Iran against countries in the region, including those who were not involved in initial US and Israeli military operations”, said the joint statement.

“We will take steps to defend our interests and those of our allies in the region, potentially through enabling necessary and proportionate defensive action to destroy Iran’s capability to fire missiles and drones at their source,” it added.

And this is why having a credible air force is so important. Even 150 to 200 4th Gen fighters would have been credible enough of a threat to hold off Israel/US 5th-gen backed air supremacy for a month at least.

Yes, but those 150-200 4th gen fighters need to be dispersed all over Iran and all kept either in very hardened underground shelters to prevent surprise ALBM attacks. Some 1-2 jets should also be hidden in some unknown cave bases near dense mountains so they can taxi out at suitable locations and take off(if there's a geography like that in Iran's mountains and valleys).

They are barely operational and always under maintenance, not a big threat to Iran.

For the UK, we only have one operational( HMS Prince of Wales is operational, HMS Queen Elizabeth is in long-term maintenance/refit in Rosyth) and we have the Falklands to think about so I am hoping we don't send it to the Gulf ...
