It will take the US six months and billions in capital investments to offset the gap from the blockade of the strait. But no one will invest in capacity that will be too expensive to operate when the war ends.

I think Donald Trump is just sending mix signals for buying time to bring in more assets and other militaries to the region.

The US took nearly 6 months amassing it's military in the region before it launched combat operation against Iraq in 1991.
