The one thing that many of those folks in this thread do not understand is just what all an MEU brings with it. Hence the ability to operate independently in a hostile environment for up to 90 days.

I think it's possible Iran anticipated this amphibious attack and began laying mines near its coast. This was misinterpreted (maybe deliberately) by the US that Iran is mining the Strait to completely close it to tanker traffic.

Now is the time for Iran to step up the fire rate drastically for a day or two because if US ground force are totally committed then it will get very very rough for all side in case of human life lost... Iran probably will have to rain hell to shake the confidence of Trump to get fully committed... Trump is hesitant at this very moment... The approved number of troops shows unsurety and lack of clear picture about the objectives...
Out of all the parties it's Israel who wants this war the most so that's the center of gravity if Iran wants to survive....or else France is playing good cop... Remember that... Mossad and French partnership goes WAY BACK... All the way to dark ages....
