Hangor Class Submarine | Updates & Discussion

any timeline on this i havent seen much on it , also are these small subs because i honestly think that is the wayfor pn , to go small but many subs to perform area denial while 8 hangors used for offensive ops
800 tons is pretty large for a coastal sub most don't exceed 500 tons, for example they are similar in displacement to the dapne class

yeah the S800 is a SWAT. Which works quite well for the mission, better than anything else infact. The idea is they can hug the coast and give the Indians a watery grave again if they decide to get close, they wont be able to get as close either being large and loud.

PN presently operates 5 subs and by 2030 PN will be replacing all of them with 8 Hangor class subs and as of now PN has not disclosed any other plans for induct more subs.

Whereas by 2030 IN will be having 6 Scorpène-class submarine and 6 Type-214 under production, further IN will be either inducting or building indigenous SSKs, SSNs along with larger SSBNs.

If Pakistan plans have a powerful submarine to counter IN surface fleet then PN needs to inducts more Subs in short time.

Problem with PN is who is going to finance it, IN is getting more attention and funding, whereas PN is in short of funding.

You have China to worry about, hence your expansion. The key is, you are no match for China which is only countered by the USN.

The bigger question is the timeframe they will be inducted in, PN's budget is stretched extremely thin between the JCF, Sea Sultan and a few smaller projects

i am just happy there are longterm plans for submarine force even if they dont come to fruition , i genuinely thought we would get 8 hangors and hang up the coats for the next 30 years .

Yes, PN is financially restrained, but these are very long term plans. Lets say a S800 contract is signed in 3/4 years, itll take another 4/5 years for delivery of the first boat. Subs are complex, unlike surface ships which can be delivered rather rapidly.

From what i have heard , PN still and will always have a need/requirment of VLS on its subs and since we arent gonna see them in the hangors or the s800 then how is PN gonna fulfill it ? new sub program? We wont have enough money to maintain all 16 ssk's , some 15 main surface ships , Air arm , and this new program...
I think army's budget should be reduced or at least its amenities pulled..

well thats the thing, is post hangor/s800, theres still a remaining submarine program that the PN needs a vendors assistance with, if they want VLS, it will be there.

Like @Ak01 said we are talking about programs perhaps over 15 years in the future, maybe by then economic conditions improve (massive Hopium)

@Ak01 some questions lol
1) When will be the s800 gonna come if they were to come? we will be busy in paying the Chinese their due share of money of the subs even after taking delivery like we did with j10c's . so it doesnt seems quick also how much of a armament difference is there between s800 and hangors..
2) Lets assume we will have 16 ssk by 2040 then what will be our strategy to utilize them ? will we doing a type of CASD ? or will we be dividing them up into segments as in 3 for baburs and 3 for anti ship etc or a mix of everything?? I am very interested in knowing how we will employ them.

Pipe down.

3 Agosta AIP subs have been upgraded. PN will field 11 AIP subs.

Talks in place for Turkish options.

IN has not even signed for Type 214 yet, in your fantasy they are already inducted in 4 years?

Right now IN is relying on ancient submarines (Kilos and Type 209s) that are over 30 years old, only had 6 modern subs, even these have no AIP.

Go read some more then post on here....
Kilos though ancient but still deadly and armed with club missiles... With these crazy Clubs Kilo can wreck havoc in the sea.... it's so silent and deadly that even NATO calls it a BLACKHOLE....

Also do not underestimate U209s.... there's a reason they're still in service.....
