Iran - Israel/US War: Israel-US declare war on Iran, Iran responds

It was extremely heartless and irresponsible for President Trump to have left the US servicemen in the American bases in Iraq and just about elsewhere in the Middle East to launch this war without evacuating the bases totally.

There is actually very little servicemen left in Iraq, most withdrew last year. The ones left are to protect the Green Zone and the Kurds in Erbil.

Or else there would be hundreds of casualties if there was still a significant troop presence in Iraq.

Yes, Chahabar port and the strategic Jask Oil terminal. Some (likely bombed) naval bases.

Also hundreds of tunnels and bunkers and small underground operating bases built anticipating US Navy attempting to storm Iran from the sea. CMs, drones, speedboats, torpedos, unmanned suicide boats and USVs. all stored in these areas leading all the way up to Hormuz.

In early 2000s the concern was that an U.S. land invasion would come from Iraqi border and Afghan border in a dual simultaneous attack. But as U.S. forces reduced their footprint in those coming decades the focus shifted back to hardening the coastline.

A beachhead at Gulf of Oman coastline is still their only option —but it will be bloody and expensive for both sides.
I don't disagree with you. Iran has had 40 years.
