I would advise against it, not because I love the Saudis, truth be told, they are the devils themselves, but because of the fact that it can get us Pakistan involved, which is something no Pakistani wants, but then again, when do things ever turn out as per our wishes? Some Babus sitting behind closed doors will make the call, but the whole of Pakistan will suffer because of it.

If battleships firing on Iwo Jima couldn’t “suppress” an island HALF the size of Kharg Island, what makes you think they can suppress an entire mountainous coastline spanning 1700KM??

By the time the marines arrive (one group in 1-2 weeks and the other in month) US munitions will be at critical levels.

Land invasion would be suicide for the Republican Party.

We already have Republican politicians and their pundit proxies arguing how seizing Kharg or parts of the coastline isn't same as a land invasion or boots on the ground. The MSN link I had provided in a previous post had all the info.

About 4 more weeks of bombing then the land attack starts, unless Iran capitulates before that. That's the plan.

surely you forget 1965 and 1971 war with India. Saudi did contribute substantial economic and military aid to Pakistan in 65 and 71. Not saying Pakistan should join the war with Iran. I think Pakistan should stay neutral - antagonizing a large neighbor to the west is ill advised.

Oh brother, how can I forget that when I have millions of dollars of remittences and delayed loan repayments from our Saudi creditors. instead of running the 65/ 71 comparsion of Iran v saudi aid to Pakistan I will only end with this sentence.

the Pakistani weapons that should've been spent on indians are now going to be used against Iran, If Pakistan puts the Saudi defence deal in practice.

and all those drones and Missiles that should've been spent on Israel will be sent over to Pakistan as well.

the Pakistani economic vulnerability has given a great advantage to Israeli and India.

I was off by size, you are right. But it wasn’t the point I was trying to make. So it isn’t the goal you think you have scored.

But my point wasn’t even related to the islands at all, it was that the Iranian coastline and the inability to suppress large mountainous terrain of thousand of KMs of coastline. The island was only mere proof it was hard to root on the Japanese on Iwo Jima of 30KM^2 or even the Taliban in Afghanistan.
