No until last 24 hours, UK officially refused to give US permission to use DG for the war. So it’s a recent development.
If Iran can successfully prove it can threaten the island then the U.S. won’t risk its prized B-2 bombers taking damage even if it’s a low probability (ie 10%).
But it remains to be seen if Iran can threaten the island in a meaningful way.
We're talking two different things...
DG remains one of the few spots crucial to maintain regional ops.
A quarterback!
The internal dynamics(authorization from UK) and Iranian ability to coerce decision makers into falling back further to protect assets are ancillary to that function...
