Modern ASAT weapons use non kinetic means , like chasing satellites and frying their electronics from a distance, or using Earth based lasers, so they decay naturally into Earth's atmosphere. That tech is not available to Iran though.

I think it’s a bit too optimistic on wests capabilities in clearing Iranian threats to shipping in the Hormuz straits. Those navy ships would be hit too because they would have less than a minute to react to a missile coming from any island. No time to identify and track the missiles. Mind you mines are also there. Distance is to close.
