they intend to use it on, tunnel entrances, to make structures (large Rocky Mountains) within those tunnels fall (due to shockwave!)
it is different from the '98 blast which Pak. did, it did not make the mountain hollow, bec, it was detonated deep underground
if such strikes are successful, it will open a new pandora box of research of effectiveness of tunnels

AFAIK Kharg island has no oil. Am I right?. Oil comes from inshore or high seas plataforms and then It is store in Kharg island that is really a logistic hub for embarking and send oil abroad.
Also Kharg is far enough fro Strait to be not suitable as chokepoint for freeing the Straits. To me Qeshm seems more strategic than Kharg. But this is only my oppinion.

the real question is can the Iranians sustain this firepower for a prolonged period of time while under constant air bombardment ?
