And people from modern-day KSA created the by far largest and most influential empires in the Muslim world - more precisely 3 of the world's 11 largest empires to date. Ruling an area spanning from modern-day France to modern-day China.
The world's soon to be largest religion (Islam) also originated in KSA as did Prophet Muhammad (saws) and numerous other historical/Abrahamic Prophets that are venerated in Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
That is besides KSA being one of the fastest growing economies in the world (second only to India in the G-20) and rapidly progressing in terms of industrial and scientific output. KSA also has the best ranked universities in the Muslim world and also home to one of the world's largest expat communities from all corners of the world - the US included.
KSA is not some failed banana republic but a regional powerhouse and one of the world's most influential states out of the 200 something states in existence, 80-90% of which are far weaker than KSA.

Another thing I forgot. KSA army branches are training with US soldiers on a monthly basis undergoing the same training that the US soldiers are undergoing largely.
And no, House of Saud members are largely completely absent from the military - other than leadership positions which are also limited and based on meritocracy mostly - in particular nowadays. 99% of all generals are not from the House of Saud nor are any of the commanders of the army branches other than the Air Force where this individual is the commander.

KSA regularly trains with Western European armies, Pakistan, other relevant Arab and Muslim powers and even in recent years held numerous military drills with the Chinese as well.
The only area where nepotism and tribal loyalty is relevant in KSA is the SANG which has historically been composed of tribes fiercely loyal to the House of Saud (tribes and clans that the House of Saud helped unify KSA with - hence this bond was shaped in blood throughout the decades and centuries) and often this is a "closed club". But that is not the ordinary army.
A few rich spoiled Saudi Arabians abroad (that were sent to the military- often as punishment and who never had any interest in being there), mostly decades ago, is not representative nowadays. Far from it.
USS Mustin rejoins forward-deployed naval forces in Yokosuka
The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Mustin (DDG 89) arrived at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka on March 23, 2026, returning to U.S. 7th Fleet after nearly five years in San Diego. The ship was previously forward-deployed to Yokosuka from 2006 to 2021.
Mustin recently completed a major modernization period in the United States to enhance its combat capabilities and readiness for regional demands.

The Americans will leave, they always do and if the Saudi's attack Iran, they will have to learn to live with an Iran that will look to settle the score in the future.
This war is Israel's and USA's disaster, Saudi's would be wise to adopt some common sense and actually learn stay out of it.

Another point which makes the Saudi Arabian military similar to the US military - most ordinary Saudi Arabian soldiers (foot soldiers) are from the middle to lower middle classes or lower classes. Many are often children of naturalized Arabs not originally from KSA or non-Arabs who have joined the army in order to prove their loyalty to the country. Unlike the SANG which was historically strictly based on ancestral ties and tribal/clan loyalty to the House of Saud. For instance the House of Saud, decades after the unification ended in 1932, banned (indirectly) tribes/clans that they historically were at odds with or minorities that were deemed potentially non-loyal.
What is also interesting many of our religious minorities are overly represented in the military for instance Shias from the Eastern Province have a large representation in the military compared to their overall numbers. Just as with their representation within ARAMCO.
KSA has never used any foreign mercenaries either - this is something that UAE has used. Same with naturalizations. Once again this is something that smaller GCC states such as Bahrain and Qatar have done due to lack of native/local people. I can tell you guys that not many decades ago Kuwait and the smaller GCC states used to naturalize Saudi Arabian people and the few remaining Bedouins in large numbers.
Iraq used to do this as well prior to 1958. Same with Jordan until the mass influx of Palestinian refugees in the 1960's.

90% of Yemen was liberated, all the areas with all the natural wealth (oil and gas), 90% of the coastline and many large population centers that were invaded/occupied by the Houthis after their attack on the Yemeni state in 2015.

The Houthi cult used to wage guerrilla war against Zaydi ruled Ali Abdullah Saleh starting with the early 1990's. Long before any KSA involvement.
This became on a much wider scale by 2004.

KSA did not wage war against Yemen - Houthis waged war against the Yemeni state and people and KSA as the responsible neighbor came to the aid of the official Yemeni government. Rest is history.
Houthis were/are confined to the mountainous northwest. KSA was never interested in going after them as it would be a losing battle - similar to US/Pakistani attempts of removing the Taliban - never going to work in this terrain and with such a large population (North Yemen has 20-25 million people). More so when the Houthis are embedded within civilian areas. There is also the "problem" and "dilemma" of North Yemenis being fellow Muslims and Arabs that we are closely tied to. In particular people of Southern KSA - one of our most inhabited areas. There was always deep unpopularity with this war among many circles within the Saudi Arabian army. Hence KSA was mostly limited to a support role for the Yemeni army, engaging in key battles such as the battle of Aden and other such battles. Rest was sporadic special operations and air and naval warfare.
Maybe it is the Iranian regime that needs to learn with its neighborhood in peace? You are talking about a country that has attacked every neighbor from Turkiye to Azerbaijan to Iraq to Oman (you know those guys that they themselves handpicked before the war started as a place for negotiation - preferring them over Turks, Pakistanis and others), to Syria, to Pakistan to GCC. Not long ago they attacked you guys with ballistic missiles.
They are the only regional country that I know of who have actively used 1000's of Pakistani Shias as cannon fodder in Syria and elsewhere.
KSA did not allow offensive operations from its territory UNTIL Iran, in desperation and because they cannot hurt either the US mainland or Israel really, started to send drones and ballistic missiles at KSA. Not the other way around.
And no, there are no US bases in KSA. This is a Saudi Arabian sovereign military base (Prince Sultan Air Base) which has been allowed to be used by the government by the US as a logistics hub mainly. It only became relevant 10 + years ago when the whole Daesh menace emerged. Due to being centrally located between Syria and Iraq in the north it was the perfect staging (one of many in the region) to wage air raids and campaigns as well as being a logistics hub situation in the middle of the Arabian Peninsula bordering 2 of the world's most important trade routes and bordering Africa and Europe and Asia next door.
And the Iranian regime is not very clever. Do you really think that by attacking those small GCC states the regimes in power will somehow now reduce US presence? The opposite is already occurring. As if this was any surprise. The Iranian regime has given the perfect excuse for leaders in Qatar, UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait to say that we need US bases because otherwise the Iranian regime might even invade us (of course unrealistic) but you get the point.
But even if the GCC did nothing at all, Iran would also be attacking the GCC (desperate attempt mostly and with little to no harm) due to geographic proximity and the oil, gas, aviation and economic hubs that the GCC Is. The plan was always to make a regional war (Iran vs US or Israel) into a world/global war in order to use oil/gas/global economics/trade as a power play against rivals (US, Israel) that Iran otherwise stands no change to win against militarily. It is pretty simple.
You are very naive if you believe otherwise.
Why was Oman attacked numerous times for instance? Nobody believes the Iranian nonsense about some imaginary US or Israeli attacks. It was confirmed that those were Iranian drones and missiles as well.
