Its an interesting point that you raise. In an analysis like this one has to account for human biases. We are all egocentric. We tend to approach any situation from the perspective of maximum vestment or agency.
Situations like these are always multifactorial and hence truthseeking is not a boolean variable but rather an identification of ratios and proportions ie which cause is the heavier contributor.
Iran has shown a willingness to strike Israel like no other country. It wasn't the valiant choice to defend Palestinians that some here would have people believe. That was a coincidentally converging convenient branding. If that was the objective it would have been Iran attacking Israel first from October when things started, not the other way around. But regardless of the genesis, what is true right now is they are the brave, regardless of whether it was by choice. So I believe they have to be afforded the due respect of a Main Character that they deserve, not just a side quest.
That much said, objectively, especially before the fight broke out, Pakistan was the existential threat. So long as Pakistan has nuclear weapons it will be the prime target always. You are spot on in your analysis that with the recent India Pakistan fight, the anti muslim Axis realized outsourcing the destruction of Pakistan to India is a failing strategy. In their mind an ideals situation would be Pakistan and India wiping each other out. But that strategy would also remove India from.the board as a pawn against china which is still the biggest threat in their minds.
Both the Pakisan India war and the current war has compromised the propaganda of overwhelmingly military superiority. We realize the key factor isnt technology, it is will. And that the muslim countries have greater potential for than many others.
What Pakistan must really fear is internal strife . That is our Achilles heel. India realized this and invested heavily in insurgency with Co operation from Afghanistan. We have to get out act together at a social and civil level.
...and we need ICBMS...
