That is not what i am trying to suggest. This war should not have begun at all, and now that it is here, Iran is perfectly justified in closing the Strait as a war tactic.

What I am pointing out is Iran's continued geopolitical isolation globally, which is the reason I posed the question as in my previous post.

The current world order is characterized by confrontation between groups of countries with shared interests.

China does not care; Iran needs to sell its oil, and China is the largest oil buyer. We can negotiate with Iran for Middle Eastern countries to sell oil to China together.

Russia does not care; if Iran blocks the strait and oil prices rise, Russia can gain huge benefits and leverage in negotiations.

India would be very happy; India can resell Russian oil for a large profit.

China and Russia have many cooperative countries; as long as the energy needs of these countries are not affected, they also will not oppose Iran blocking the strait.

Therefore, I believe that continuous geopolitical isolation on a global scale will not exist.

Military Pacts are a TWO way street - if they did not realise that before they signed it, then more fool on them.

I do believe that MBS was part of this conspiracy against Iran and that he sought the pact as insurance for Saudi, in case it all went wrong for Saudi Arabia.

That is a good reason why this won't be a 'short' war as many are hoping. The consequences are too large for both sides. This has all the makings of a Vietnam style descent to quicksand.

Ahhh. No comparison with the Vietnam War or the Korean War or the Ukraine War or any other war after World War II. When Dennis Kucinich recently said this 'is the most dangerous war for America', he meant what he said.

There is every possibility of this war having its impact way beyond the already global impact of an economic war to become a religious war, if anyone is even vaguely familiar with the various Crusades. To add to the mix, only some fool would deny there is potential to impact China's rise, which makes it even more dangerous.

All I can say is Trump's inner circle didn't think through this carefully. If they had done so, considering the costs that will be incurred, they would have involved Congress or at a minimum, House and Senate Armed Services Committees, before starting the midnight bombing. However stupid one may consider George W. Bush to be, he didn't commit that blunder. But the talented politician LBJ fell into the trap. And paid dearly for it.

Iranian attacks against Qatar have stopped, and the city will reopen its government offices, banks, and schools.
Qatar has also declared that it is distancing itself from the war and will not participate in any escalation of the conflict.

People here just too loosely use 'the Gulfies' to describe all Gulf Arab countries. Only Bahrain, Kuwait, and the UAE could be called 'vassal' states. The others have shown plenty of backbone and independence/neutrality while trying to protect their interests which are deeply tied with the American backed order.
