Pakistan Army Small Arms

What would you like to discuss? A well-trained rifleman, using Mk262 Mod0 / 1 ammo, is capable of hitting targets consistently at ranges of 700-800 yards. DM / SDMs routinely train at those ranges.

Yes, the 5.56 is capable of reaching beyond 1000 yards. 20 years ago, a young SFC on the AMU by the name of Liana Bombardier won the NRA 1000 Match in the Service Rifle category using an M-16. She was shooting Sierra 90s out of a 1x6.5 twist barrel.
Exactly, I hate this age old folklore that 5.56 wounds but don't kill.

We need to work with China, pick a western example that works for us and reverse engineer it, no need to spend millions in licensing and TOT. Guarantee an initial purchase of a quantity that covers the investment and Let the private sector play its role.
Weapon replication itself does not involve any patent licensing or authorization processes. As long as you can independently replicate the weapon, you don't need to pay any fees to any country. This is international practice.
Only when you lack certain special technologies and materials and require technical support from the original design and manufacturing countries will these fees become relevant.
If Pakistan wants to replicate Chinese-designed light weapons, as long as Pakistan can independently complete the replication work, it does not need to pay any patent fees to China.
Myanmar and Sudan are both replicating the Chinese QBZ-97 assault rifle (the export version of the QBZ-95 assault rifle). They did not obtain authorization from China, nor did they pay any patent fees. China has not raised any objections regarding this.

=======================================================

The largest and most important small arms manufacturer in China is the Jianshe Industrial Group. Approximately 40% of their production capacity is dedicated to producing all of China's domestically used small arms, while the remaining 60% is used for export weapons production.
Their export weapons production is divided into three categories:
1. Export versions of Chinese domestically used small arms;
2. Replicas of standard small arms from other countries;
3. Manufacturing of components for other countries' military factories.

Didn't you ask about 7.62x51mm version of CR?

Not directly related to this thread but How good is the TAVOR/X95 . India operates them in good numbers with their SF and Marcos . I have heard it has some design flaws and is innacurate ?

Seeing as the Army doesn't want to get rid of the G3 so Maybe something like the Swedish AK4D might be most effective way of upgrading small arms without buying new rifles

Also I find the obsession with the G3s long range weird considering without optics you aren't really making good use of that range.

That's a huge wasted opportunity by Pakistan and looks highly likely that they are puting all their bets on the roller delayed blowback mechanism into locally manufacturing their own platforms like CW and BW rifles.

Could be worse. PA could be fielding the M-7 rifle.

Below news not related to the thread but relevant to the discussion. This has never been talked about but does Pakistan Army operate any LMG besides the old MG3?

The Adani Group Saturday delivered the first 2,000 units of Israeli Negev 7.62×51 light machine gun (LMG) to the Indian Army called Prahar. This locally manufactured LMG will replace the 5.56 INSAS LMG.
