PN in the near future will probably be the Second or third strongest navy in Indian Ocean (not including the USN) only behind the IN and maybe the Australian NavyEasily one of the largest navies on such a small budget.

wese what is their budget ??Easily one of the largest navies on such a small budget.
Roughly 266 billion or 10.5% of public defence budget works out to roughly 950 million nominal usd. Compare this to india whose budget is a bit harder to track but is spending roughly 4 billion on regular maintenance and pensions alone and by my estimate 9.35 billion in total roughly 10x as muchwese what is their budget ??
Depends because Australian navy is technically split into pacific and indian ocean fleets but even half their fleet is probably be comparable in raw strength to PN in near future. Indonesian navy is also growing rapidly but also depends if you count them as Pacific or Indian ocean.PN in the near future will probably be the Second or third strongest navy in Indian Ocean (not including the USN) only behind the IN and maybe the Australian Navy
With regards to the Aussies they have a much stronger surface fleet but a weaker sub surface fleet compared to the PN, AUKUS is pretty much dead in the water (pun intended) and they scrapped their plans for Scorpeans for Aukud so they are upgrading their colins for nowDepends because Australian navy is technically split into pacific and indian ocean fleets but even half their fleet is probably be comparable in raw strength to PN in near future. PN is indisputably the strongest navy east of turkey and west of India. Strongest navy in gulf and WIOR reigions
Should note IN budget includes coast gaurd budget wheras PMSA and PCG are seperate. But marines should still fall under pn budget so it should kinda still be compableRoughly 266 billion or 10.5% of public defence budget works out to roughly 950 million nominal usd. Well it's not like PN hasn't spent a lot on procurement in the past 20 years, Likely more than even PAF has.Easily one of the largest navies on such a small budget.
How bro? Paf has probably spent more than that on jf-17s alone. Over last 20 years buying 150+ jf-17s whose base unit price is atleast 30 million and split into 3 diff blocks with prototypes r&d and big ticket items like aselpod cm400 pl-15 added on top that is at minimum 50 mil per unit which alone works out to 7.5 billion minimum likely 10 bn on them alone, 1.6bn for j-10c deal add awacs sams and some of the more big ticket ammo and you are reaching at least 20bnWell it's not like PN hasn't spent a lot on procurement in the past 20 years, Likely more than even PAF has.
$750 million for the 4 F-22Ps
likely around $1.4 billion for the 4 Type 054As
4-5 billion on the hangors
$1.5 billion on PN Milgem
likely around 500 million for the Damen OPVs
When you add it all up this amounts to over $8 billion. For Paf the big ticket items in recent years would be the J-10Cs, JF-17s, AEWs, SAMs, drones and ew systems. I am not sure if they'd amount to over 8 billion though.
but do we know what he talking about hereBasically a nothing burger interview basically said we are inducting new ships subs MPAs blah blah everything we already know.
Yeah I underestimated the sheer amount of JF-17s. But 10 billion is a stretch. And the rest of stuff hardly amounts to 5 billion. So you are looking at 10-12 billion in total imo.How bro? The Twitter guy turned LRMP (long range maritime patrol) into a completely different thing.but do we know what he talking about here
pretty sure CNS office just sends a pre written script to all of these interviews. if u check them, theyre all basically identical/Basically a nothing burger interview basically said we are inducting new ships subs MPAs blah blah everything we already know.
Was there a requirement for FAC in PN in the first place? and I don't recall if PN checked a couple of designs before ordering Azmat's. I thought they were happy with it, from the looks it seems stealthy and able to carry a decent punch for shoot n scoot. But don't know much details about it.i wonder whether the ships were just subpar.
PN has a FAC requirement still, but they want something better. @puttputt will know.
Also, just a side note, alot of Chinese ships of similar era were deemed to be incredibly dangerous by export customers like thailand. When the RTN purchased their Naresuan class Frigates, they had to spend a ton of time remedying the construction because it was deemed to be extremely sub par and they concluded that any strike on the ship would lead to a very quick loss. Plus, the fire suppression systems were also deemed dangerous.
