She is going to be commissioned this week, she doesn't have her CIWS yet, probably because of lack of funds but could it be that PN is holding out for the goksur or levent?

Definitely are but not for ship to ship combat, modern super rapids can dish out 100+ rounds a minute making them pretty useful as a CIWS, especially now that USVs are a thing now.

USVs and low cost uavs are much bigger threat now. accurate rapid fire 76mm+ guns are bare minimum against this threat

Maybe it would be better just to buy more and more subs and go for nuclear powered subs that can go anywhere in the world

Surface ships just seem so vulnerable in this world

Between anti ship missiles, air attack, coastal attack, it's like the Tank, useful but possibly a liability



Considering our enemies from India, to the U.S etc

Subs will allow us to protect our sea lanes and waters and if we go nuclear we will complete our triad with enough space for BMs and go anywhere in the world

Go from our planned 12 to around 25 subs

Hey I'm not saying no surface fleet whatsoever

I'm looking at irans inability to protect its navy

I'm looking at the distance between Pakistan and India and the anti ship weapons India possibly has

But mainly as I read this thread, it seems a repeated theme is that our ships don't have sufficient A.D

So what's the point of expanding the surface fleet if it's under armed and has limited A.D


It just seems like a expensive liability

Pns Nasr is over 40 years old now and it was a first generation support vessel for the PLAN I suspect she will need to be replaced soon, I think PN should go for something like this Karel doorman class hybrid support ship

Hospital ship (20 beds and 2 operating rooms

Light LHD (can carry 6 medium helicopters)

Amphibious assault ship with the capacity to carry 250-300 troops and armoured vehicles

All in one and PN already has a existing partnership with Damen which it can leverage.

probably, with all this fleet expansion the auxilliaries will need to be expanded. We will prob see a few more moawin types

Why does PN keep its F27's at turbat and why do they continue to move them around there? any clues
