I don't think reopening the Strait of Hormuz or 'regime change' or grabbing the Iranian nuclear material are the goals. I think the minimal goal was to degrade Iranian military and civil infra so that once this war ends, Iran wouldn't be able to threaten Israel's expansionist plans and clearly that goal is not yet achieved and so the war continues.

A couple of very interesting predictions were made yesterday by people like John Bolton and Prof. Robert Pape. Bolton predicted Iran would rebuild after this war and come out 'much stronger' while Pape said Iran will form a 4th global power center after this war ends. Pretty bold predictions by two senior analysts.

I think they will go nuclear as well.

We are entering a very volatile period now in the ME. Irans relationship with GCC in tatters after most of their treachery, they obviously wont see it that way. You also have an Israel trying to become a major power or super power of the region. Greater Israel plan is live and kicking.

Well it's a tank and a Merkava is the heaviest and most armored tank in the world, so I think the crew survives unless the tank is completely destroyed. With a Merkava the only way to destroy it is to hit it from below. I think if the Merkava is disabled and out of action, that's a good result.

Ironically, it would have been better for iran if Bibi did attack then and Biden allowed it.

-Hezbollah was stronger and Nasrallah was alive
-Syria was under Assad and would have made it more challenging to use Syrian airspace
-Houthis were stronger
-Iraqi PMUs were stronger
Etc.

I actually thought Iran should have gone to war in 2023 especially after its embassy was blown up in Syria. By avoiding war over and over, Iran ultimately fought the war when the enemy wanted, not when it wanted.
