Yes, obviously it is always about efficiency over risk to maintain coverage tempo...so it would be beneficial to land at that base to refuel..sure.You do not just move heavy support aircraft a few hundred miles back and continue the war as if nothing happened. Space translates directly into time. Every extra mile an AWACS or a tanker has to fly from a newly designated safe runway means less loiter time over the battlespace, fewer refueling tracks, degraded radar coverage, and a drastic drop in sortie generation for the strike packages.
It is inevitable that some machinery gets lost in battle...but lets not increase the odds of it.What we are watching is the total collapse of the sterile, frictionless war we were promised.
You are being ridiculous. Those countries didn't spend billions on AA defenses just because they thought there was only a 1% chance they would ever be used. The threat envelope was well known. Now the threat envelope has expanded, the sanctuaries are bleeding, and the entire architecture of that lie is exposed.

Bit of overconfidence l reckonYou'd think this should be standard operating procedure on Day 1 instead of Day 30 so things could get rotated in quickly if sudden losses occurred.
Whilst the world's attention has been drawn on RAF Fairford the British base that is hosting the fleet of 15 bombers from America. Another base is secretly quietly doing work that may not be grabbing attention of the press but is equally worthy of scrutiny and monitoring.
I started monitoring traffic at RAF Mildenhall for the past 1 week or so due to a really interesting aircraft landing there from RAF Fairford.
This base dates back to the second world war is home to a very special unit from the USAF. The 352d Special Operations Wing. The 352nd Wing serves as the focal...
