Pakistan Air Force | News & Discussions

Why do they need our hardware? Do they lack in anything?
SPADA-2000, LY-80/HQ-9, Oerlikon guns etc. all could be very beneficial against Drone/UAV attacks which is where the volume comes. Their own THAAD and Patriot batteries can address the BM threat.

Saudis don't have enough to cover every single VP. Pakistan may be able to bolster their petroleum refineries and other VPs with our Air Defense equipment.

I am hoping none of this is used in anger with some sort of a peace deal made iA.

Given our AD coverage is already sparse, is it likely that we will expose our critical military infrastructure to protect Saudi civil infrastructure? Do we really have hardware to lend?

And for heaven's sake, where is the GIDS LOMADS?

IF Pakistan is supplying (I was stating that hypothetically, I have no facts to back that assertion), I am sure Pakistan has evaluated what the Saudis are seeking and what we can deliver.

Saudis understand that Pakistan too has security considerations but Pakistan has over 10 batteries of SPADA-2000 alone and between 200-220 Oerlikon SPAAGs with AHEAD - Advanced Hit Efficiency and Destruction - munitions which are specifically for use against drones. I am sure Pakistan could offer some of these in addition to other systems. Where there is a will, there's a way. Let's hope and pray that Saudis don't need them and they are not fired in anger.

I would be surprised but if so it also leaves vulnerability where these were moved out from.

Saudis have their own refuelers too, so who are we refueling?

I doubt Pakistan would send its own AD assets, considering Pakistan needs them the most w.r.t to the rabid indian dogs.

Must have been something else. I am sure saudis have enough AD assets considering how they go shopping in one go.

But nonetheless interesting to see so many transport planes in Saudi

I think the Modi breed dogs would have been put on leash by the Americans for the time being. India really isn't in any strong position to do anything at the moment.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is expected to get the Chinese-made Shaanxi KJ-500 early warning and air control (AEW&C) aircraft, a development that has the potential to change South Asia’s military balance far greater than the additional purchase of fighter aircraft or missiles, reports a defence news portal based in Malaysia.

According to Defence Security Asia, Chinese and Pakistani officials had confirmed formal negotiations for the aircraft in June 2025, with the KJ-500 expected to be part of China’s broader defense package.

The platform not only expands the surveillance coverage of the PAF, but also creates a much more integrated combat management architecture capable of shortening decision-making periods during in case of any crisis with India.

The report says the PAF negotiates acquisition of the J-35A fighter and the Chinese-made HQ-19 interceptor, the KJ-500 is expected to be the air command node that unifies the entire system.

The KJ-500 would allow Pakistani commanders to detect Indian aircraft, missiles and drones much earlier before coordinating interceptors as well as air defence missile batteries, the report added.

Problem is that we lack any large heavyweight jets to carry Lora class ALBMs with 400KM+ range, you need a SU 30 or F-15s for those.
J10 could carry it. And probably Thunder Brovo, but I expect for the latter a modification at the factory will be needed.

We need KJ3000 now
