Pakistan-Saudi Arabia mutual defense pact: News & Discussion

A bit risky deploying in Saudi amidst the current conflict, but I don't think either Saudi or Iran want a wider conflict with Muslim states in the region. If the news is true of PAF aircraft deployed, it's not going to be enough to make any difference in terms of defending Saudi air space. Rather, the aircraft and personnel will probably be used to coordinate the Saudi air force in terms of preparedness against potential threats, most notebly in the northern area.

The IDF does not depend on the KSA to attack Iran. They use following route:
Israel -> Syria -> Iraq -> Iran

The US does not have any military base in the KSA. All military bases in the KSA are Saudi owned. The KSA allows the US to use a military base to conduct an operation in the region, if necessary. American forces are deployed in the Prince Sultan Air Base. Pakistani forces are deployed in King Abdulaziz Air Base.

The KSA is not looking forward to stop an Israeli or American strike in Iran. From where you got that idea, dear? And no military base is a liability. They are designed to withstand attacks and can be repaired.

The KSA is huge. They don't need the PAF to cover entire KSA when they have a well-equipped Air Force to do that. If the PAF deploy F-16s in the KSA, the host can refuel them for an operation, if necessary.
I don't see any military value of deploying these assets , it's a token presence.... what do you think is the real purpose it ?

The PAF contingent can help intercept drones inside the KSA? France, the US and the UK are already doing that in different sectors. The PAF can cover the sector where it is deployed. Let's see.

The threat level from Israel must be real for the PAF to start arriving in KSA territory.

Nevertheless, it speaks volumes on whom the KSA trusts, to help safeguard its territory when things matter in real. I don't see anyone else arriving......

Pakistan and KSA, always with each other, inshAllah.
It is always an honor to protect the 2 Holy Mosques from the bastard state of israel.

I think Egyptians might show up soon as well. They have an equally large financial dependency on Saudi and have played this bodyguard role in the past too.

I had seen some knowledgeable analysts describe the meeting between foreign ministers of Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi and Egypt couple weeks ago in Islamabad as not only being about the Iran-US talks, but also a new postwar security architecture in the Mideast. A Muslim NATO kind of arrangement. People were somewhat comfortable with US Mideast hegemony for awhile because of the reputation and soft power of America but that's all gone now and they are not interested in the hegemony of anyone else.

Iran isn't attacking on KSA, attacking on US bases. US should protect KSA bases and itself. Pakistani defence pact isn’t for this.

As long as we're defending Saudi assets and not American ones, it's ok.
Hopefully we go full tilt if the Israelis attack.

I cannot believe that our defense planners didn't foresee us being dragged into a war with Iran.
