Islamabad Talks - News & Discussions

My prediction is a deal will be hammered out before the cease fire is over ….. America could not just give up everything in the first day, they can’t be seen by their voters voting in November as complete losers.

I blame major loser Pete for this complete military defeat!!!! They should dump him and charge him with war crimes under American law

LOL - LOL - LOL at this point. So, they don't mind a toll, they just want a cut of the action. This totally undermines any pretence the USA has on the global stage(not that it matters or cares it seems).
It is very normal for this to happen to Trump.

On April 8, U.S. President Trump stated in an interview that the United States is considering 'joint management' of the Strait of Hormuz with Iran.

According to the latest news, Trump wants to blockade the Strait of Hormuz. Trump said: 'Okay, here is the situation. The U.S.-Iran talks are going quite well, most issues have reached a consensus, but the only really important nuclear issue has not been agreed upon. Starting immediately, the U.S. Navy, the most powerful navy in the world, will begin to blockade any ships trying to enter or exit the Strait of Hormuz. I have also ordered the U.S. Navy to search and intercept every ship that has paid a "toll" to Iran in international waters. Anyone who has paid this illegal toll should not expect safe passage on the high seas. We will also start destroying the mines Iran has laid in the Strait. Any Iranian who dares to fire at us or at peaceful ships will be blown to hell! Iran knows better than anyone how to end this war that has already destroyed their country. Their navy is gone, their air force is gone, their air defense and radar systems have become decorations, Khamenei and most of their leaders are dead—all of this is because of their ambition for nuclear weapons. The blockade is about to begin, and other countries will also participate. Iran must not be allowed to profit from this illegal extortion. They want money, and more importantly, they want nuclear weapons.'

On February 5, 2003, then U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell accused Iraq of hiding weapons of mass destruction with false evidence at the United Nations Security Council and used this as a reason to invade Iraq.

Therefore, I believe the so-called nuclear issue is just an excuse. If Iran really had nuclear weapons, the United States and Israel would absolutely not dare to invade Iran, because Israel is within the strike range.

So if he wants to clear the mines and enforce a blockade " Effective Immediately " then should we consider the cease fire over ?

Pakistan acted as facilitator only. Getting US and Iran on the table face-to-face was a massive achievement. The onus lies with the warring participants to cut a deal. Obviously 21 hours wasn't enough 🙄

Sure but if a deal was struck Pakistan would have established itself as a highly trusted strategic partner

It’s a positive Pakistan was trusted for this in the first place. Win would be a deal imo

Only thing that can make things hairy is the Saudi defense pact and that’s something to watch for now

Any effort for peace is worthy of respect and support.

According to the information I have, Pakistan deployed a security force of over ten thousand people for this meeting. Pakistani officials, along with the Iranian delegation, used fighter jets to escort the entire way to prevent terrorist attacks from Israel.

Pakistan has made tremendous efforts for peace, but the results have not been satisfactory.

The fact that Pakistan was able to bring the US and Iran to sit down for negotiations is a significant diplomatic success. Pakistan can provide the opportunity for negotiation, but the outcome of the negotiations is not something Pakistan can control.

There is a saying in China: as long as you do the right thing, don’t worry about the outcome. Besides your efforts, there are many factors beyond your control.

The United States demands that Iran hand over all nuclear materials and abandon nuclear enrichment capabilities, yet it is unwilling to fully lift sanctions and provide war compensation. The US agrees to stop the war but emphasizes that Lebanon is not included. The US does not recognize Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz but hopes to share the fees collected with Iran.

The US demands are very unreasonable. When I read the US demands, it feels as if Iran has lost this war.

Benefits that cannot be obtained on the battlefield cannot be gained at the negotiation table either. The unreasonable demands of the US will only escalate the scale of the war.

According to the latest news, Trump said he wants to block the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran wasted everyone time. If you dont want to give nuclear program up then why even bother. You cant make a bomb but will die on uranium hill.

yeah its like they're stuck on something they wish to have, but don't, and won't.
They can thank their own leaderships/fatwas for that too.

Both sides high on their EGO.
well, now go beat each other again, see if anyone else cares!

if talks failed. resumption of fight will be more brutal . thats sad.even one week woulf be huge
seems the EGOS are winner, and people and world economy will lose.
Let there be the Armagaeddon then. Who cares.

Trump thanks Pakistan for hosting talks, announces US Navy blockade of Hormuz

Says the meeting went well, with most points agreed to except the one that 'really mattered' — nuclear — was not

United States President Donald Trump on Sunday thanked Pakistan for hosting talks between Washington and Tehran in Islamabad, while announcing that the US Navy would begin blockading the Strait of Hormuz after negotiations failed to produce a breakthrough.

The US and Iran were unable to reach an agreement to end their war despite marathon negotiations lasting around 21 hours, which concluded on Sunday. The prolonged talks, aimed at halting hostilities that have killed thousands and driven global oil prices higher over the past six weeks, ended with both sides blaming each other for the impasse.

In a post on social media platform Truth Social, President Trump expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s role in facilitating the dialogue, praising Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the country’s military leadership.

Frankly speaking, given the vast disparity in military power between the United States and Iran, for the conflict to have reached its current state, the United States has already "lost."

A dignified exit through negotiation is America's only way out. If the United States becomes further entangled in this war, it risks falling into a quagmire from which it may never recover.

these two guys Witkoff and Kushner are the real spoilers and Israeli Shills.
I dont know why Pakistan has sent its forces to KSA? what tech and power it has that Americans and Israelis cant provide to KSA and UAE while using KSA assets, land and airspace while launching their attacks on Iran?

best bit would've been that Pakistan had stationed some forces in Tehran as well to prevent the bombing of schools, hospitals, refineries, universities, plants and other civilian infrastructure but thats only possible in a parallel universe and its unthinkable because KSA signed a deal for Pakistan to stand in front of it while Saudi Allies attack Iran.

whereas Iran failed to convince Pakistan to buy its cheap oil or even couldnt convince to use the mutually beneficial gas pipeline. maybe if it gives away the unfrozen funds to Pakistan then it can buy some "brotherly favor" from pakistanis who always point at Saudi Halal dollars as a reason for their devotion to house of Saud ?
In my opinion, Pakistan miscalculated when it came to signing a defense pact with the Saudis.

The loans to UAE had to be repaid and that’s probably where Saudi stepped in and coupled with the defense pact, Pakistan may have been coerced.

Strategically, it makes absolutely no sense for Pakistan to fly its assets into Saudi while the US is there.
