From a technical standpoint, intercepting suicide drones of the "Shahed-136" type is not difficult. What are Pakistan's options when it come to 1500+ km kamikaze drones ?
1. Laser defense systems.
2. Microwave defense systems.
3. Close-in weapon systems (CIWS) utilizing AHEAD ammunition.
4. Electronic jamming systems.
5. Close-range missile defense systems.
...
The crux of the problem lies here:
Suicide drones of the "Shahed-136" type are simply too inexpensive. The adversary can manufacture them on a massive scale with relative ease and then launch them en masse. These defensive systems, however, are not cheap.
When faced with extensive national borders and lines of engagement, it is extremely difficult to secure sufficient funding to construct a complete and comprehensive defensive network.
Consequently, one is compelled to deploy these defensive systems only in critical areas, while being forced to leave the broader regions undefended.
This is an economic war.
