Islamabad Talks - News & Discussions

Let’s be clear friend; US-Israel strikes on Iran led to this. Islamic Republic of Iran suffered an illegal attack which has killed thousands and caused billions in destruction, Iran should now charge them a toll in Hormuz to pay for these damages.

And international law has been blown out of the water, or hadn’t you noticed. .. thanks to USA arrogance and dumb fuckery. So now might makes right , and Iran has the guns to control Hormuz and Orange man is impotent to stop it.🍊
Correct understanding.

We should be concerned about the reasons, not just the current situation.

Before the United States and Israel invaded Iran, Iran did not block the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran did not demand fees.

The United States and Israel caused more than tens of thousands of casualties, including 4,992 women and 2,115 children under 18, of which 70 were children under 2 years old. These are the figures as of April 10.

Everyone needs to be clear about the reasons behind this. The United States and Israel should compensate for their acts of aggression. Then, under the mediation of the international community, the Strait of Hormuz should be reopened.

However, the United States has taken actions to block the Strait of Hormuz.

Currently, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Japan, Canada, South Korea, and the Gulf countries accuse Iran of blocking the Strait of Hormuz. These countries are allies of the United States.

Cuba, Spain, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar oppose the United States' blockade. Europe and traditional allies do not support or participate in the United States' blockade; they have not opposed the United States' blockade. This is truly a double standard.

Can hardly blame Iran, they tried to negotiate but US/Israel were secretly conspiring to attack Iran behind the cover of negotiations. Even now, Trump is constantly talking war and destruction, would you guys trust Israel/US intentions at this moment?
From June 2025 to February 2026, in just eight short months, the United States and Israel twice launched surprise attacks on Iran during negotiations, and Iran paid a heavy price.

On April 11, 2026, the United States and Iran held negotiations in Islamabad. If this negotiation had not taken place in Pakistan, if Pakistan had not arranged tens of thousands of security personnel, and if Pakistan had not provided air force escorts for the Iranian negotiation team, we dare not imagine what would have happened.

On September 9, 2025, representatives from Qatar and Palestine discussed the peace plan proposed by the United States, and Israel shamefully bombed the capital of Qatar. This resulted in the deaths of one member of the Qatari security forces and five members of Hamas. The U.S. air defense weapons did not respond at all.

The Epstein coalition has no credibility; they have become accustomed to ambush tactics. Frankly, if I were Iran, I could not possibly trust the United States and Israel. Trusting them in negotiations is equivalent to preparing for bloodshed again.

Chinese revolutionary leaders said more than 60 years ago: never trust the United States at any time. If you trust the United States, the mildest outcome is that the country will face difficulties, and in the worst case, the nation will be destroyed and the people will die.

"Being an enemy of the United States is dangerous, while being an ally of the United States is fatal." This quote comes from former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

Ukraine, the European Union, South Korea, and the Gulf countries are all examples.

I Think you are fighting a war against America. Are you for real? Where are you from? From stone age? Obviously if ground invasion happens, then Pakistan needs to take care of its border with Iran as your irgc will be hiding in tunnels. This will leave us exposed and vulnerable. You are fighting a war against a super power and Israel is also your enemy, which is also our enemy and we can't allow Israel to come closer to our border no matter what. We are thinking about our own national security.

I don't care how you fight against them. Sooner or later, Israel will come closer to Pakistani border and in order to save ourselves, we have to go inside Iran, which looks ridiculous right now but who knows! For us, protection and security of Pakistan is the top priority. We want you to understand the gravity of situation but irgc is not listening. They only want to fight.

This leaves us in a vulnerable situation. Think about it deeply. What if strait of Hormuz come under American and Israeli control? What future do Pakistan have after Iranian defeat? We don't want our enemies to come closer to our border.

That's it. This is deep thinking. Anything can happen. Who knows!
If it goes down to the level you fear then where shall Pakistan draw the territorial lines in Iran ?

Nothing to worry folks , talks will go on as scheduled and the deal will be signed...a bit of drama , some adrenaline rush etc. are necessary ingredients of a normal life ...in reality it's not Trump it's FM muneer who's the maestro of this concert and he will decide when to raise the crescendo and then the denouement.

Vance landed in Islamabad

Ball is in Irans court now. For sure they can be pissed off US took their ship, but right now they are making rest of the world beg (including Pakistan) just to go through Hormuz.

Now lets wait and see if they make Pak leadership and US VP wait for them.

Btw, the same applies to China. The PLA does not belong to the Chinese government, nor does it pledge allegiance to it.
Since many people have expressed surprise at this perspective of mine, I find it necessary to elaborate further on this issue.

China's political system differs from that of many other countries.

In China, the term "Chinese Government" specifically refers to the State Council of the People's Republic of China and local governments at various levels(This is stipulated in the Constitution of China.). These institutions are all tangible entities possessing distinct legal personality.
The CPC, the National People's Congress (NPC), the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and the People's Liberation Army (PLA)—organizations that exert immense influence at the level of national governance—are *not* classified as part of the "Chinese Government." Rather, they are distinct entities independent of the "Chinese Government," which, together with the government, constitute China's overall national governance structure. The CPC serves as the supreme leadership within this national governance framework.

This model of governance stands in stark contrast to the governance paradigms found in many other countries around the world.

The problem Iran has, is will the USA honour any agreements it has made? USA, France, UK did not honour the JCPOA terms at all. The current USA blockade is an act of war, and therefore in violation of the ceasefire itself. If the USA cannot get the basics right, then what hope for an agreement ?

The Iranians will with any new agreement have it structured so that there is compliance by the USA built in with off ramps for Iran, if they don't.

Donald Trumps man child antics are not building trust, quite the opposite.

They will hold off on some one point during 'negotiations', wait for Trump to show up and then 'give' on that point because Trump was too good a negotiator for them. What buffoonery !

You're right. Unless Iran is willing to effectively surrender, there is no rational basis to engage in talks at this time. Donald Trump continues to demonstrate bad faith... even over the weekend. He is being driven by Netanyahu who has a completely different calculus than even the US, much less Gulf Arabs or Pakistan.

This forum, however, offers an interesting plurality of opinion. Though there is broad support for Iran, there is also fear the consequences for Pakistan if this war continues and if, as expected, Iran devastates Gulf infrastructure as it has threatened. The consequences of such action will be long-lived. The only beneficiary will be Israel.

The interesting unknown, at this time, is whether the Iranians are in fact holding back some capabilities in reserve. Can they sink a couple of US vessels? Can they breach Israel's pain threshold? So far, we haven't seen evidence of either. Though Iran has been successful in inflicting pain on Gulf Arabs, US and Israeli losses have been contained. American public opinion, although even now opposed to the war, will shift decisively only if casualties rise dramatically.

We can only watch. And prepare for the economic and political consequences of this war continuing. They will be severe.

It will not be easy to amass another large armada to attack Iran again after the attackers retreat. Iran has not only retained considerable number of its missiles which are able to strike the regional countries AND Israel but also now has almost unfettered control to open and close the Strait. Once Americans retreat--hopefully after some grand bargain--Iran WILL be victorious!

People talk about international law as if it even existed before any of this happened.

There is no international law to hold a permanent UNSC member accountable.
