PAF J-35AE - News, Updates and Discussions

Regarding, J35 air to air missiles J-35 will carry. Pl-17 is too big to fit inside J-35 internal weapon's bay. Either it will be PL-15 or PL-16 The PL-16 is folded wing and little improved variant of PL-15. Not sure which ones PAF will pick.

Actually, the issue of money can be solved. Saudi Arabia and Qatar usually provide partial funding, Pakistan can obtain partial funding by selling JF-17, and China will also provide low interest loans. The real question is whether it conflicts with the strategic intentions of China and Pakistan. I still doubt the necessity of Pakistan deploying 5G fighter jets before India.
Normally I would be in full agreement ie no need for 5th Gen until India forces our hand BUT given recent seismic events are the likes of Qatar & Saudi Arabia now seeing value in a PAF that is not just India centric??

The Indians are in talks with Russia for Su 57 and R37m missiles. The su 57 might take
time but the R37m missiles could arrive in India in 12 to 18 months.

Cannot ignore the threat from F35's as well.

I can't see India operating the F-35 at all, Indians have been toxic to operating USA based fighters, and there is nothing more toxic that the operational constraints around the F-35 at all.

India may even look at KF-21 before F-35 given the engine commonality between the KF-21 and the Tejas fleet and commonality of BVR missiles (Meteor) etc.

What is PL-16? Never heard of it in any defense websites?

GE delivered what 6 engines out of 99 in 5 years, US stuff is tainted unreliable due to geopolitical reasons. They will have to partner with SK, or go all Russian for now and swallow the Rafale pill of no source codes.

Even if currently there might be parity Pak still needs J35s regardless. I dont see any point waiting for political reasons, im sure ultimately will come down to budget and maturity of the jet.

It is an interesting state of affairs, where India has all the money in the world, but hard choices on which jets to buy, and Pakistan has all the choice it needs, but no money to buy them with!

They will double down on Rafales, and convinced themselves it can be competitive against the F-35AE and J-10CE combo somehow.

India would do well to collaborate on the Su-75 Checkmate, with a full Indian avionics and EW fleet for the Indian version(Indians can do software better than the Russians now as they have a far larger talent pool to draw from and better private companies in that space), and let Russia work out all the issues of the FBW, Engines and airframe design. Right now, that is the best decision(imho) as the platform has a better stealth profile than the Su-57 has.

The J-35AE will still beat any Su-57/75 combo of India, until India can get its own datalinks in place, and its own version of multi-domain operations which itself will take a decade.

The whole of the PAF with its datalink, multi-domain operations is now fully ready to absorb and operate a stealth fighter, and that is the product of sensible long term forward looking strategic military planning... Indians are having to reverse engineer all this now, and it will be at greate cost.

I was on about the Israeli F35's, they already flying in neighbouring Iran and they
could also bring them to India.

India will go for Su 57 with r37m missile, they might get these missiles earlier
and put them on the Su 30 MKI's.

Yeah - given the alliance between India and Israel, there is a possibility that F-35I's could operate against Pakistan in a conflict in the near future.

I don't mean to stir up excitement, but this is the latest official information.
This appears to be the first official FC-31/J-35 (export variant) to roll off the production line. This is just my own preliminary assessment. I will verify it carefully tomorrow.
