Well at the very least, when they take control of the house or should I say if, they will have the power of oversight.

I disagree with you, I think there's a strong possibility they take the house.

But anything's possible, just a few years ago the repubs thought they were going to have a red wave and it turned out to be a red puddle

They would have power of oversight in the Senate as well.

Right.. but I mean at the very least if they lose the Senate and keep the house they will have oversight and subpoena power

Obviously if they take the house and send it then that would be even better. Not holding my breath though

Of 35 seats total up for reelection this year, Democrats need to win 17. I don't think that is in the cards. At least not at the moment.

Democrats cannot remove the President under the 25th Amendment. That's not how it works. Nor would they have the majority required in the Senate to convict and remove him should he be impeached. They would need to win an additional 16 Senate seats to get the majority required. That, or blackmail enough Republicans to go along. Neither is happening.

Probably even earlier

November is the election night, the candidate would have to be primaried this and next month, then you are talking about political campaigning, around August, Iran only needs to hang on til then because those candidates would have to campaign laid out by then, the rest is just autopilot, you can't change how you campaign once you're already set on your strategy. See how Kamala lost the election if you want to know.

If the Democrats take the House, then expect nothing will be done because the House leader will be a Democrat, and he/she probably won't table any bill, which means the worst-case scenario is basically shutting down the entire government (you need the House budget committee to draft and pass a federal budget bill). There wouldn't be any leeway for Trump to execute his policy because the Democrats will be holding the House hostage (If they started growing a pair). Trump can issue an executive order all he wants, but if the government doesn't work, it did nothing.

That is a very potent weapon because if the government is doing nothing for the next 2 years, very highly likely the GOP government (Presidency and Senate) would be out because you can't stop the current inflation problem without policy.

On the other hand, never say never, be so sure the GOP can hold the Senate in 2026, becuase this is what Kalshi odds

Well, this is where people put their money where their mouth at, while I still see that Democrats taking both the House and Senate is not probable, but this is probably a better chance than Aftyn Behn taking TN-07 in 2025.....

Unless something really bad happened to Democrats in the next 5 months, the chances of them not winning the House are next to 0.

Problem with the supreme court recents decision, as someone in this forum depends on, it does NOT work that way, because there are more Blue States with toss-up seats than Red States, it won't work if you have the Texas Congress to redraw the map from getting 5 extra seat from redrawing the map, that's what they can do, there are 4 more seats in FL that may swing back to GOP, but then if you look at Blue and Purple states, you have 6 seats in California alone that is going to be picked up in redrawing, and there are 4 seats that in AZ currently a toss up, it most likely going to swing to Democrats, then you added 4 to 5 seats from NY, and 4 seats from Virginia (which is actually redrawing for Democrats), 4 in Pennsvylvia......The GOP will lose more seats to the swing and Democrats' own redrawing effort than getting them back from redrawing the red states.
