Hangor Class Submarine | Updates & Discussion

Realistically, it can submerge at the speed of close to 5 knots without being noisy.

So basically 9 km per hour, then 9 * 24 * 30 ≈ 6000 - 6500 km.

Since an AIP sub has realistically 30 days of endurance without being resurfaced.

A Type 41 can have much longer range being submerged, and can sail much faster underwater without being noisy.

that’s a hell of a rain without resurfacing… kudos to Pakistan

what is the range of babur SLCM and the warhead

Okay! I take back my words.

I just looked up some information. The cost of this submarine rescue ship is astonishing, completely beyond the affordability of the Pakistan Navy..........

Whilst we obviously dont need some big state of the art purpose built rescue viechle something like this capability is needed to garuntee safe recovery of submarines and crew in case of accidents

Until PN can get its own capability in this area, we can rely on allies to help in such cases.

@Ak01 @Michael
What are the capabilities of the torpedos that are coming with these ? Doe these have the heavy weight torpedos? Names and specs plz?
Are they like on par to the Italian blackshark or even American ones?

the chinese dont export their domestic torpedos. They have a specific ET lineup.

The Yu 10s are comparable to the newest MK 48s
wont be for export, we will probably get some 90's tech as part of the package.

I think PN has a domestic heavy torp program. Torpedos are surprisingly expensive, we also now need so many of them it makes sense to just build them locally

Turks have a good torpedo , I forgot the name but developed by roketsan comparable to the black shark...
How into is the PN in the torpedo program as compared to the SMASH ?
Also why are they not for export is it that big of a technology? And can we integrate any other torpedo with these subs?

Cant we get some euro torps in those tubes as well? Maybe @Michael knows more but there shouldnt be any technical limitations in getting foreign torps in theee

For now, the Pakistan Navy does not need submarine tenders.

But, you need this...

Something like this would be best tested and integrated upon from a dedicated sub tender but i agree its a necessity

need a couple of these boys

The closest indication we have of such a capability is this. From the latest MoDP year book.

Even though a diving tender is usually a small attendant vessel, I'm hoping it's just babu-speak of something along the lines of a DSV. I think the PN would make some creative procurements to come up with a cost effective but good capability. Perhaps Damen might be contractor in question here.

We might see this vessel quietly enter service in a few years, like PNS Rizwan.

The Akya, its quite new and prod scale is probs quite limited. Also, the Chinese would porbably be somewhat reserved in 3rd country torpedo integration, but im not sure, maybe not, its one of those things that only those involved would know.

Torpedo's are pretty significant technologically yeah, its basically the same game as submarines, make them quiet, countermeasure resistant, and also hard to detect. Just think of it as a mini submarine, all the same stuff applies.

Would be nice, PN currently operates the DM2A4's which are pretty creme of the crop as torpedos go, would love nothing more for them to grab some more, but its quite unlikely.

A DM2A4 probably costs in the range of about 4-4.5m usd nowadays. PN bought 20 per ship, so lets just assume thats what they aim for, so 160 needed, plus some for swats, so lets assume a req of about 200 units.

Nearly 100 million USD!
