Gun violence & Hate crime in the United States - Sticky

You know there is a thread here discussing a vehicle attack in London, right?

Police officers and military types are not partially trained. I've a lot of cop friends. They all attend regular sessions of hand-2-hand training.
You miss the point, Vehicle are not dual purpose tools (transport & weapons) they are for transport and people use them as weapons in desperate situations, the first choice of any crazy to commit a crime is always a Gun, you are relating car ramming incidents with guns, if they are same we will see Police and Army selling of guns and buy cars to ram criminals with.

Lol its not that simple, specially in America. someone with law enforcement background will tell you, but FBI and Homeland security is good at what they do, we are not talking about Pakistan here where people will buy a suicide jacket in North Wazirstan, and people will ask what's that for? its America, your actions are recorded and monitored. Now in these kind of cases people get under the radar because of their skin color, name and nationality, but as Muslim or brown you as much as buy something can be potentially use as explosive you are busted or at least now on their radar (which is good).
FWIW, I was once called for jury duty. When they got to me as a potential juror (drug case that involved a murder), I stated that I was a mid-level manager with advanced degrees and membership in the NRA.

I was excused and have never been called back. That was close to 20 years ago.

I assure you, I am likely on a number of radars for various reasons.

I think it is you who is confused but I will let it slide.

Game 7 of the Buffalo-Montreal Stanley Cup Playoffs in on. So I'll be back later. Please try to remain on topic.

I think we have the toughest gun laws here in Canada .

It’s difficult to get a license and everyone must go through mandatory RCMP background check and waiting period plus take 5 hours of mandatory in class training .

I did it all only to have a gun that requires a permit every single time I move my gun …. Even taking to a cottage or to the shooting range requires me to apply for a day permit .

OR

One can bypass all this and buy an illegal gun from your friendly drug dealer for about $1200. Thanks to our gun obsessed neighbours …

See I have seen Pakistani's here in US who carry guns, i met a couple of people who have guns in their dashboards, and I was starting to see like the usefulness of guns but then we have incidents like this and it come as a stark reminder that Guns are dangerous, and all it takes a few people to lose their minds to cause damage and change lives of several. And in our brown people case, 1 such incident can mean terrible and extra consequences, so I'd rather take my chances and hold on to my anti-gun views than see more incidents like that in news.

Police learned son had left with companion, both dressed in camouflagepublished at 19:48

Wahl says the woman told police her son was with a companion and they were dressed in camo.

The police chief says that is "not consistent" with what they typically see of someone who is suicidal.

Officers were sent to a shopping mall near where the vehicle had been spotted, Wahl says. One of the individuals was linked to a local high school, so officers were sent there too, he adds.

Online pictures are circulating showing security guard who seems like an off duty African America police officer .

Look up the Columbine incident. It was two teenagers who weren't getting enough attention from mommy and daddy. And, when they started to act and dress differently, mommy and daddy simply didn't care.

Or, look up Sandy Hook. Or the Parkland school shooting.
Teenage sus shooting up schools is the effing norm. Some people in here for narrative reasons want to make it a big deal that they were white and young.

The guy has that look other teen school shooters have... the outsider look

Maddison High is near Islamic center and know it well when during my late teens I used to street drag race in the area and in High School played varsity and played them twice at Maddison High.

According to an update on the least trusted name in news, it was the 17 year old who provided the weapons. Took them from the home. His mother had also reported to authorities he was exhibiting suicidal tendencies.
