Air India to cut international flights till July amid fuel surge, airspace curbs

It's clear as day, the Pakistani airspace ban is crippling India's aviation sector. This ban shouldn't be lifted anytime soon. In fact, make it permanent. I expect to see massive financial losses year after year. Pakistan must reject any overtures from Hindutvatis.

This ban should have happened years ago. All flights and boarders should have closed to them but our elites mucked that up.

India doesn't need to fix geography.... its just a small sized Pakistan who can be happy by thinking that he can block few planes going to Europe from only Delhi and surroundings....

India is too large my friend.... south India doesn't at all need you and from north India only from Delhi and surroundings has just to fly 1 hr journey till Gujarat and continue.... you don't have that big landmass to block entire western Indian air traffic.... after all it's just a little Pakistan landmass we have to deal with...

For east asia, America, Australia we don't even need you from Delhi as well... so enjoy Karo aur khwab dekhte raho....
Shortest route for northern EU like London/ Manchester/ Frankfort/Amsterdam etc etc from South East India cities like Goa/Bengaluru/Chennai goes to via Pakistani airspace (through mid Punjab/Sindh) if you goes around Arabian Sea to avoid Pakistani airspace its takes 3-5 more hours to reach the destinations and as for from Northern India to Southern EU same thing is happening you need 3-5 more hours to reach Southern EU

I queried the numbers off aviation website
  • A normal near-great-circle Chennai–London route is roughly 8,200–8,500 km
  • A Pakistan-bypassing route is often around 8,800–9,500 km

  • Extra distance: about 500–1,200 km (300–750 miles)
  • Extra flight time: about 30 minutes to 1.5 hours

You have nothing to worry about then I guess, why all the bitching and bleating?

Most airlines have to pay market rates for aviation fuel. May be not Emirates
Airlines have different balance sheets, revenue and... future hedge agreements .....the heck it's going to be the same impact.....all depends

Since whole world is going through oil crisis because of gulf war and blockade, Pakistan on humanitarian basis should open it's air space....

India too should open it's airspace for Pakistan airlines who wants to travel to south east Asian countries....
too much smog, a safety issue. keep your air space closed saar.

Sounds like an excellent deal for India. 👍

Pakistan should keep the ban imposed.

all of them have to pay the more or less the same price for fuel and Boeing/Airbus jetliner. those costs do not change too much

The ones that are better managed play the game better

you should read the title of the thread - Air India is doing exactly what a well managed airlines does

Airspace ban by Pakistan has now been extended to June 23rd.
