It depends, if PAF was offered Block 40 F16s with over 4k flying hours left for less than $10-15million, then they would be worth it. Nothing in PAF's service has a higher payload capacity than the F16 and there are many roles the platform can still perform.

It comes down the cost/value equation. That is why I would never advocate for the Block 70 upgrade, but I wouldn't oppose 2nd hand airframes etc.

Good point.

Question is how many Air Forces currently operate Block 40's.

Turkey
Bahrain
US

Things are changing rapidly in the region and US-Pakistan ties. Anything can happen.

PAF holding off any big budget items at the moment means they are waiting for the right opportunities to mature within current allowable funds.

There is zilch chance of your primary enemy, IAF, to go up in the air and do AA combat. So priority should be AD/ABM anyway along with boosting EW and AWACs, while maintaining momentum on J-10CEs and JF-17BLK IIIs.

Then the PAF can do a USAF on the Ram Rajya of Hindutva Bharat! Imagine the following scenario:
  • Pakistan has to secure the water resources inside the IIOK, for as a former Pak PM HS Sarawardy put it bluntly: either we will do thirsting or die fighting over the Indus river. No wonder he got removed from the power
  • The PAF has achieved a complete air superiority over the IIOK in particular and Bharat in general. It would put the IA at the bay along IB. And, the Bharti missile launchers, depots, C4I centers, AD, artillery etc. can be made into minced meat, thanks to little "brotherly" support from the Chines space-based assets
  • Then, carry out a lightning-fast deep strike via a "perfect marriage" b/w manned (battle hardened due to continuously fighting against the constant Fitne and Fesat emanating from the Afgan "Ya'juj and Ma'juj" ) and robotic forces at all levels: strategic, operational, and tactical. All the Bharati resistance inside IIOK should be pulverized via smart Shahed-like drones. The ever-evolving Turkish MIC has given live demos. Even the closed-quarter combat can be extended up to few Kms due to the asymmetric nature of this game
  • Etc.

Can we openly say now why that forum collapsed??

Last I heard was that H. Khan decided to simply shut it down . Just before that I contributed pretty penny to move it to a new server and I also paid for content backup etc .

I am still so mad . I grew up with PakDef around and had a splendid time with so many good members . Even while I was doing my residency I used to be glued on to the screen during Kargil war.

I created section on the 1965 war etc and spent so many nights working on scanning different books and articles about PAF while going to grad school full time .

This bloody idiot of a moron had no decency to even explain or
Give a warning about what was going on and simply shut it down and disappeared .
Very arrogant and cocky guy …. Too bad I never met him face to face . He lives in Florida .

PakDef was founded and owned by Syed.
H Khan was a prominent member there, not sure how he came into controlling the forum. Interesting
