I think in hindsight, we have to admit (if observing neutrally) that Hamas’s attacks against Israel on October 07, 2023 were a huge strategic blunder on their part.

This does not mean Israel hasn’t committed genocide (and tried to ethnically cleanse the population) in Gaza post October 07, 2023; or that it hasn’t been occupying The West Bank (ruling it under apartheid), Gaza and East Jerusalem from 1967.

Yes, the condition/suffering of the Palestinians is squarely on the Israelis.

But it was a strategic mistake from Hamas on that day, because since Israel started committing genocide against Gazans; Hezbollah in Lebanon was forced to enter the conflict.

They didn’t have a choice not to. If they had stayed out, they would have lost credibility of being a resistance group against oppression.

But Hezbollah did fire first shots against Israel in solidarity of Gaza post October 07, 2023.

Now, Israel will try to occupy southern Lebanon, south of the Litani river.

They will either try to create a buffer zone (like they’ve done in Gaza), or they’ll try to move settlers there too.

They have a pretext that they cannot have security threats next to their borders, like Hamas in Gaza or Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

And because of Israel’s attempts of occupying southern Lebanon, Iran has to attack Israel in defense of Lebanon.

So the strategic blunder by Hamas on October 07, 2023 has resulted in Israel expanding further into Gaza, Syria, southern Lebanon; as well as the weakening of the axis of resistance.
