I watched a little bit of the US-Paraguay game last night.

TBH, I wasn't impressed with the level of playing.

And I'm a little annoyed. Unable to watch. Going to need to make an adjustment to the HDTV OTA antenna to see the games on the local Fox HD channels.

You would think that Fox would be showing more games on Fox Sports. I've yet to find one.

So annoying.
 
Absolute garbage from Turkiye. Apart from Guler, they are a team of journeymen. USA and Aus are suddenly clear favourites for this group.

Still, 8 best 3rd place teams will also qualify, so Turkiye in with a shout.

Australia defended with 9 players, Australia's defense locked down the game.
We had 30 shots, but it was all in vain; their goalkeeper saved 6 shots, and 12 shots were blocked by their defense.

Turkiye was unprepared for the game.

We lost to an incompetent team, despite having 83% possession.

Turkish Players were defeated by their egos.
That's what happens when you underestimate your opponent.

Turkiye plays well against big teams, but Turkiye lack motivation against teams like Australia.

Coach MONTELLA also couldn't figure out the game and made tactical mistakes.

Having possession of the ball all the time doesn't guarantee we'll win the match ....... The opponent made us play the game they wanted, and we fell into their trap

Turkiye should beat Paraguay and take min 1 point from USA
Turkiye can do it , but the fighting spirit needs to return to the team... I haven't seen such a spiritless play in a long time.


Btw , I respect Morocco , the best team in Islamic World

Curacao are the smallest nation ever to make it to a World Cup, in terms of geographical size and population - 158,000, which is only slightly bigger than my home city of Norwich.

Sadly, Norwich never made it to a World Cup, but for Curacao to qualify is a great story - and so is the return of Dick Advocaat as their head coach.

At 78, he is set to be the oldest coach in World Cup history when he takes charge of this game. I remember facing his Rangers side when I was at Celtic and he is such a smart guy and a really wily manager.

I am covering this game for 5 Live too and it is strange there is so little expectation around Germany at this tournament - they are usually among the favourites but did not get out of their group in 2018 or 2022.

They should make it to the knockout stages this time, however, and I think they will begin with a win. Curacao will sit deep and defend in numbers, but Germany will find a way through.
