Agree. Only difference in my opinion is DR Congo are no pushover and might even beat Uzb. Also, Ghana may defeat Croatia. Iran definitely have a great chance at squeezing through.

It definitely ruined my day. Hard to see some of our players like Ramin cry over so many consecutive bad lucks. Hitting the bar twice, a missed penalty, a very bad offside decision by VAR, all in one match.

All aside, the refereeing this time was impeccable. The Polish dude was really great. The first time in this world cup that we had a fair referee and it had to end like this!

This generation of our team deserves to advance at least once, and unfortunately this tournament is the last one for most of them.

The irony is that when this scenario of "deliberate game management" in the final game of a group stage arose most infamously in 1982, it also involved Austria and Algeria!

At that time, a 1-0 win for West Germany in the WG vs Austria match assured BOTH West Germany and Austria's qualification at Algeria's expense due to goal difference. The match was clearly managed after WG took that 1-0 lead and it finished as such. A draw or an Austria win or a WG win by 3+ goals would have allowed Algeria to advance with either one of WG or Austria.
